The up-and-coming generations do not venerate the BBC "institution"

Protesteh too much -

If only they had a cut down netflix or disney or eurosport where you could just pay for what is genuinely interesting to you - same for the BBC
Despite license increase , might want to watch some of the niche Olympics the BBC has rights to, and other sporting events too.

btw netflix has an echo chamber algorithm just like X, once you are under the influence you don't see it

I think you’ve missed the point.

There are lots of things you might not use (much) but you indirectly benefit from.

Eg. You might not use the library, but you do benefit from other people being well read.

You might not watch the BBC, but you do benefit from the population being provided with information that isn’t the whim of an oligarch.

And yet the BBC has been around for decades and stupid people are still stupid. The BBC has not had any effect on these individuals, and isn't likely to any time soon. I'm also pretty sure there are news sources that aren't the BBC that don't get their info from oligarchs.

The BBC is a total waste of money as far as I'm concerned, and that opinion is extremely unlikely to change.

The more they hike the price, the more people will cancel. Which means less people watch their stuff. It's self defeating.

That would be nice if it worked like that. I wouldn't mind so much letting them in for 1 inspection then never again. But that's fantasy land a bit like the people living in fantasy land that think its fill out a simple form to solve everything.
