TV Licence Super Thread

They will say something along the lines of "ok, no problem, just sign here to say you don't watch tv" and suddenly you are enjoying something called the single justice procedure where you turn up in court and are given a fine. They claim they will work with people to avoid this, but EVERY SINGLE CASE is brought before the court.
Source?

Its been widely report that and similar events happening. Often with people who don't speak English very well. They think they are signing they don't watch TV but they get misled. I always recommend never to sign anything and don't let them in your house. They will often use what you put on that form against you even if its to get a record of your name so they can target you for personalised threats.

But if she literally did have the BBC on TV I guess it's fair game?
nah coz "BBC on TV" might mean:
- watching bbc live right now (license needed)
- having the ability to receive live tv but never using it (license not needed)
- having iplayer open right now with live content (license needed)
- having iplayer open right now with on-demand content (license needed)
- having iplayer installed but not using it (license not needed)

so the guy and the woman might have different interpretations, as might anyone watching the video.
ambiguous language is straight out of tvl's playbook

I don't watch live TV or iplayer, so don't pay the licence. In the past 3 years I've only had letters. I had cards posted that said they stopped by whilst I've been home, but unless they're really soft knockers I never heard them at my door.

I guess owning and watching BBC programs on DVD or Netflix is fine though :D

Didn't he say she literally had BBC on the TV and she didn't deny it?

I mean if he means "you have a TV so you have BBC" or "I can literally see the BBC news playing right now" would need clarifying.

I assumed the latter!

Yeah on re-watch the whole conversation is a mess.

Just lol if they think their scare tactics are going to stop people watching the Mike Tyson fight tomorrow night if they don't have a TV license.

Do they really think Netflix are really going to disclose who tuned in?

Just seen the licence warning for the Tyson fight on Netflix, apparently it also includes live footy matches on Amazon Prime!

I did not know it covers things like that, shocking behaviour!
