come on even if you don't watch tv, you should have a general knowledge of what channels are available on tv, failing that just look at a tv guide.
and no there isn't a better way. Tv license does not like making it easy for us. There revamped website is more ambigouse than the one it replaced several years ago, that is on purpose.
most things on Amazon channels are not live.
and you don't need to pay to see, look at itv hub for example the only one which is live says so, however you can still happily watch all the other Itv stuff without a license as its not live.

same goes for discovery, most content is on demand but again

same for horse and country

Planet Knowledge does not have a live segement on amazon channel, however if there was it would be subject to tv license as its available on freeview
I don’t agree with that at all. If you don’t use TV you shouldn’t need to have a general knowledge on TV channels. I have not watched TV channels or seen a TV guide in years so why should I have any general knowledge on the channels? It’s one thing to have a general knowledge of which programs are on TV but not which channels those program run on. Like I know Games of Thrones is on TV but I haven’t got a clue which channels you can watch it on.

It’s still not clear so ITV hub doesn’t need a license but ITV Hub+ without adverts but the same does?

so you cant remember channel names from several years ago?

if it is not live you do not need a tv license, so if you goto the itv hub channel on amazon you can watch everything apart from the very bottom one which says
Amazon Channels

Watch Live
same for discovery and the other ones, as long as you aren't watching the live channel you are fine.

I could name a few channels from 7 to 10 years ago but I haven’t got a clue what programs are running on those channels today.

Are you looking at those channels on a web browser? With the channels its completely different when you watch them on a Fire TV, Fire Stick or tablet which is what we do. On those there is no reference to what’s live and what not. At the bottom it does not say live and I assume the subscription includes live bit.

So if you have a subscription that includes live but you don’t watch the live bit are you in the clear? How are hybrid channels handled? What if you watch live but it doesn't say live anywhere?

yes you are in the clear.
you dont need to know what programs are on what channel. just what channels are available and what you are watching is live or not which Amazon tells you.
if firestick doesn't tell you look at the Amazon website first, once you've checked once then you know.
no idea what you mean by hybrid.

I live in an apartment, I have a TV which is connected to my PC by HDMI. If I remove the coax cable from the TV to the wall socket then will I be good for some enforcement visit if I don't have a TV license?
That is, as long as I don't watch anything from the internet that is live at the same time as TV channels?

Game of Thrones and stuff I stream-download from websites, so are not broadcast live.

What about Youtube? some random youtube channels on there (not BBC) broadcast live stuff like sometimes somehow re-streaming live BBC news. Suppose I can't watch things like that.

Read in the Metro Newspaper today that the BBC admitted they have no power to stop people without a TV license entering fake details to watch iPlayer. No surprise, was pointless them changing the law in the first place.

They'll move it to a point where they'll validate TV licence details soon enough. That or start requesting ISP details for accounts.

I don't mind the TV licence actually. It ensures the BBC is commercial free and allows it to invest money in quality rather than quantity.

You only need to look at US commercial TV to realise that it is not so bad a price to pay.

I went to Las Vegas a few months back - my first time in the States - and holy **** they have adverts at the most stupid times during films. It was pretty damn mesmerizing to be honest, so you definitely have a fair point there! Though I myself aren't keen on the license fee, but I can't exactly complain as I don't pay for it at the moment (private renting, all included hehe).

Edit: Also, if an admin, or anyone who knows, sees this message can they PM me, I have a question about the "usable" swear words and I don't want to chance one here and potentially get a temp ban lol

Not this again. For the 10,000,000,000,024 time you pay the license fee to receive television signals, NOT THE BBC. Look at the Govt site. CH4 is also Govt owned.
That's wrong as you missed out a key word. You do not need a licence to receive all television signals. You need a licence to watch/record live signals. Apart from Iplayer no license is needed for non live signals

My iplayer account says I'm 117 years old and live at the BBC's own address :D

I'm assuming they have a licence?

Also using a VPN (which stores no logs) and bounced off a nearby area. Created with a disposable email address as well.
