No, but I'm using my judgement based on the evidence I have telling me that he's more likely to be a revolting individual than not. General demeanour and behaviour on the pitch that is, nothing to do with what's in the papers. It is somewhat arbitrary yes, but that's the impression I get of him.

I'm sure even you make judgements about people without meeting them Castiel.

I make judgements all the time, however I don't voice them as fact until I have met someone or at least know far more about them, I also do not make judgements of someone's character based on who they work for or by some set of partisan criteria as you are doing.

I could infer the same arbitrary judgement about you purely based on your posts in this thread, that would hardly be fair, or indeed representative of your character in reality though, would it?

I don't read the papers but you'll find that nearly everybody in the country dislikes Rooney, take your head out of the sand, why do you think the whole of Upton Park abused him? Because he's a fine young fellow with a good attitude, a dedicated family man, always polite, always sincere, or because he's deeply dislikeable?

None of those, it's because he plays for Manchester United. DO I have to give you a run down of the history between the 2 clubs?

Do you think this **** storm would have surfaced if say Van Persie had done it or Charlie Adam or <pick someone, anyone>

If you were abused to the levels of professional footballers you might.

Exactamundo.

If I walked into work and most of the office was calling me a fat **** and a granny shagger and I managed to save the company a million pound, I would turn round and tell those same people to **** off.

Professionalism is professionalism.

Technically professionalism is simply being paid to do something.

Rooney is not a role model and I don't know why people expect top level footballers to be role models.

The holier than thou attitude of the tabloids (and the FA in this case) is pretty disgusting to be honest. If we delved into the lives of tabloid journalists I bet they all have skeletons in their closets....

There are paid for the talent and success they bring to a football club, not because they have some innate social responsibility.

They are sportmen not social workers or politicians, there is no social governance criteria in being a footballer.

he takes endorsements, therefore he has responsibility

If I ran round work swearing at members of the public and screaming obsceneties in the face of figures of authority I would expect to get to get in a lot more bother

Again, he doesnt work for the FA, and I doubt that referees are graded managers at Manchester United either.

You cant draw these kind of comparisons, because they dont stand up.

Wayne Rooney is employed by manchester United.
He reports to: Mike Phelan, Sir Alex Ferguson.
They report to:
David Gill
He Reports to:
The Glazers.

Manchester United play in the Premier league to earn money, by achieving certian results they are then invited to participate in other competitions (to earn money)
By accepting these invites, they say they will stick to the criteria laid out re match governance and rules of play.
At no point is any official from any of the competitions in authority over any of the club staff.
What they are is judges in a game, thats it.

The only slightly comparable scenario to what wayne has done is for intance me telling someone from another company who has come to take pictures of me at work, to **** ***.

united fans are so blinkered it is quite unreal. think what you like. i would bet that you'd all be singing to a different tune had he done it in a city shirt!

To what?

Wear their boots?

Appear in adverts for computer games?

I doubt in any of the agreements he signed it said "must be faithfull to wife, must not swear"

Honestly.

On the flipside the likes of Nike, Coco Cola and FIFA11 are probably rubbing their hands together at every bit of controversy he brings.

"Wayne Rooney the terribly nasty man has done this, this week. Rooney who is sponsored by Nike, Coke and FIFA11, may well be dropped from these lucrative agreements"

Kerching.

So nothing to back up your argument just "....Erm.....United fans are blinkered LOL, what if he did it in a City short LOLOLOLOL"

Great argument.
