Two match ban for swearing!

Shouldn't FA take some action against SKY or whatever TV station was in charge of broadcast for letting this on air rather than going after a player? In every game probably half of the players swear at some point but no action is taken because it's not aired.
Director/producer should mute/ turn to different microphone as soon as a player said 1st swear word, watershed doesn't start till 8pm on subscription services.

Hopefully Ofcom will take some action.

I personally am a big fan of the suitably vague and not equally applied rule he has been charged under.

If it wasnt a game, and was a serious charge, you wouldnt even get it to the court in the first place.

And you couldn’t make this up. The man who is so offended by Rooney’s swearing that he felt a two match ban was an appropriate punishment, worked for French Connection before joining City’s board and was behind their controversial range of t-shirts.

Im not gonna spell them out on here cos i might get a ban ! But four letters ending in UK

**** is not a swear word, I don't think you can be banned for writing that.

You can get banned here for writing that word in that disguised form.

lolz :D

Even SKY can't predict the future :p

Rooney got off lightly, Drogba was banned for three games.

At least his swearing was justified :)

But wasnt that more to do with calling the Ref a Cheat rather than the naughty words he said? Personally i expect a 1 match ban after his appeal, still think its a knee jerk reaction. Pretty sure ive heard many players/managers etc swearing close to the Mic on the sidelines and no one ever mentions it. It seems according to the FA you cant swear anymore at a football ground, doesnt matter if there is cameras at the ground as its not mentioned in the law. Hopefully next time a player is overheard swearing then they get a two match ban.

Drogba was swearing directly at the referee and had to be restrained from attacking him.

Completely different.

Quite.

And actually illustrates the disproportionate nature of Rooney's suspension in light of Drogba's attack on a match official.

I have no problem with these kind of bans. They should happen more often and only the captain should be able to approach a ref. I hate watching the ref jogging backwards away from players. He should stand with his feet together and if the players chasing after him touch him or knock him over they get a ban. They would soon sort the attitude of players out.

I went to watch the kids train at a session run by Middleboro, the dicipline from the kids was appalling. Rolling on the floor clutching a knee until the ref stopped the game. Hideous diving and screaming at the ref (people running the training). My own godson screaming at the ref to use his eyes when he missed a foul. This was under 8's.

No one ever back chatted refs while I was at school for any of the teams I played for, you certainly never feigned injury.

Yet kids see this behaviour as normal and want to emulate their heroes.

Having a respect campaign is pointless, they just need to come down harder on the players across the board. Forget fines they are pointless, make them miss games and the clubs will soon have them in line.
