Two match ban for swearing!

This is a clear tinfoil hat case.

Nothing anyone else says in favour of the ban will make a blind bit of difference.

Rooney was wrong to swear directly into camera, kids of all ages and all clubs were watching and he got rightly punished.

I'd be supporting the FA on this matter if this was any player.

I would rather the FA did something about the West Ham fans racially abusing their own players (I guess nobody saw that what with all the swearing Rooney was doing)

Or Essiens tackle that should be punished but no lets concentrate on public enemy number 1 because he told a cameraman to **** off.

They should take action against all those things.

But to say no action should have been taken against Rooney is rather silly

It was said directly into camera and more than once :)

All of this has been brought upon by himself, it could have so easily been avoided.

But the issue is the comparative nature of the punishment, not that he was punished.

I've got no problem with the ban for swearing at the camera, but the FA need to make it clear that this is why he's being banned. Anyone who's even a half-competent lip-reader will have seen far worse in lots of matches, with the C-bomb being dropped a fairly regular occurrence. Either they clamp down on swearing in general, or not at all imo.

What does bother me, is the fact that Five Live and MOTD seemed to be out to crucify Rooney, when plenty of other players have been seen doing this in the past - screaming '****ing come on!' at the crowd after scoring etc.

Where have I ever said no action should be taken against him :rolleyes: I said a 2 match ban is ridiculous.

It could have so easily been avoided and he's stupid for doing it but if we're handing out bans for being stupid you wouldn't have a Chelsea team out most weeks.

Exactly.

Well this is the thing, swearing IS part of EVERYONES normal language, pretending it isn't is entirely daft.

But "******* come on" and "**** YOU" are in an entirely different spirit to each other so lets not prented they are the same.

Its like saying "I could KILL....... a burger", or "I'm going to KILL..... YOU", one is a threat, with intent, and dodgey, one is a common expression and you can't even pretend it had any bad intent associated with it.

I still don't think Rooney should have been banned for swearing, ref's do it, players do it, linesmen and managers do it, fans do it, commentators slip out the odd clanger, the Queen probably yells at Philip with bad language every now and then.

Punish Rooney for stupid elbow, for a bad attitude, for often kicking out when frustrated, he needs to be taught to curb his temper because it will cost Utd, and England at a crucial moment some day.

Also agree that just like Eduardo, you can't punish one player for something everyone in the league does, then forget about it and let everyone else get away with it again.

Lastly, the FA should start handing out red cards for kissing the camera after scoring, its cringeworthy, embarassing and should not be allowed to continue!

Can't really compare lip reading with Rooney's outburst directly into camera.

There's a big difference between screaming with joy at your supporters and making a beeline to swear clearly, aggressively and loudly right down the lens of a camera.

Like I've said before I'd support the FA if this was any player, it just seems like United supporters think the world and the FA is against them.

Did he make a beeline or was he going to celebrate with the supporters and the cameraman encroached onto the pitch asking him to kiss the camera?

Is that a 100% proven fact the cameraman asked this, or just "reports" from an "inside source"?

Lets blame everyone else attitude much?

When did I say we give out bans for being stupid?

He shouldn't have done it, he got punished, he won't (hopefully :p) do it again. The system works.

You came across as saying he should be banned because it was a stupid thing to do, I made it easier for you to understand that doesn't always make it right.

I've seen him swear numerous times on camera, he won't change. I just hope the next time he swears on camera it is to tell the FA to stick their England up their arse.

I'm not blaming the cameraman at all lol, you said he made a beeline for the camera to shout abuse which is utter crap and again wrong :D

The cameramen were apparently asking the scorers to kiss the camera (A despicable act introduced by Gerrard) see Nobles penalty where he runs off and kisses the camera.

But he did make a beeline to look directly into the camera and swear. He didn't have to do that.

Does the cameraman control Rooney's body now? Controls for his mouth and head?

As much as SKY would probably like to control him, I very much doubt they do :p

Unless he's a robot! DUN DUN DEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR

FFS.

Like I said before he went to celebrate with the fans and his team mates, the cameraman goes up to the touchline to stick the camera in his face, he then shouts "What, what" as if the cameraman has asked him something then he shouts "**** off"

The blokes just scored a hat trick and pulled his team out the crap, adrenaline is high and he's a chav from an estate.

I love how Harry is getting involved as well, I remember Harry telling a Sky reporter to **** off when he called him a wheeler dealer, should Harry be banned as well?
