Two New Intel SandyBridge CPUs - The 2700K Retail and 2700K OEM - Pre-Order NOW (GIBBO tested upto 5

There isn't any source! I just know it will be! Intel want to go further step up!

This is a joke post yes?

Who would have ever guessed that Intel's next CPU is going to be faster then there last.

Why post things like

Can you try & not post such **** please.

Hey Guys;

Is it just the OEM versions that have the ability to be crazily overclocked?

or are the retail versions just as quick?

And if I am starting a new build soon (Mid to late November fingers crossed)... would you go 2700k or 2600k??

Cheers

Phil

The OcUK OEM batch are proving well. :)

Considered one of these as ive promised a buddy of mine my 2600k, but will buy the retail one for the extra warranty.

All the overclocking results are from the OEM chips which are all from the same batch.

There's no guarantee that the retail versions are from the same batch and will do so well.

You may end up swapping your 2600K for a 2700K which overclocks no better.

I will post the result once I had recieved 2700K OEM on tuesday when it arrived. I had two 2600K chips here, the retail (3 years warranty) was very poor clocked never gone pass 4.6GHz (need 1.45v) and other chip 2600K OEM (1 year warranty) and it get 5GHz but at 1.48v for nearly 4 months without any issues.

Just wait and see if my new 2700K OEM will clocked 5GHz with ease! If not going back to OCUK under DSR.

Do you have INTERNAL CPU PPL OVERVOLTAGE enabled in bios for your 5GHz 1.48v?

Why would you exchange a chip that is stable @5GHz for another that you HOPE will be stable at the same speed??

Anybody upgrading from a 2600K to this new chip is really just looking for bragging rights imho - these are the kind of customers that OCUK must love.:p

The reason I get 2700K OEM chip because other one 2600K (5GHz at 1.48v) can go onto other computer for highest overclocking as far as I can get and don't care if it had died. Because the Warranty only 1 year with those crazy 1.48V! (don't know how long it going to last for ?)

Thanks for the information bulldog147. If the batch is as good as your chip you might sell a few for Gibbo.

You know I'd never actually clocked (pun intended) that the Retail was 3 years warranty.

Really toying with the idea of upgrading my Q9550 now instead of waiting for Ivy to arrive. With a decent Z68 board I can always replace the Sandy if Ivy is that much of an improvement I guess. Was tempted by the Asus Deluxe but £200 seems a silly price for 2 extra SATA 6Gb/s ports and getting rid of the video ports on the back of the board. The Asrock seems to be doing the business in every review I've read but 1 year warranty is poor compared to the Asus.
