Type R and VTEC owners

It's straight forward to do it yourself though the tensioner can be tricky. As for a specialist round your area if you want a garage to do it, maybe a jaunt up the M6 to TDI North in Warrington? If you go, say hello to Paul for me.

I think you could get the cam cover off on that engine under an hour, it would allow you to have a look at the cam gears to see if it's jumped a tooth or not.

I will do, are they on Chris's forum at all?

cant see for looking

edit - I searched and found it but its on the old trader section. will use the contact form on their site.

Yeah they are on there, but Jonny started to not respond to my emails.

Old traders bit should be hidden from Google, think I'll look at the settings again.

Managed to PM Tegiwa, a pickup is fine by them and they are moving premesis even close to my house next week :)

seen second hand scuttle plates going on the bay for £40

seems a bit pricey for a bit of plastic

may have to ring around the scrappys when I have the car.
When I put a Gruppe M on my second EP3, I went to a Honda dealer for a spare scuttle, and they wanted over £80 for one. Keep an eye out in scrappies as you say, as all 3 door EP Civic's share the same scuttle. I paid less than £10 in the end when I went to a scrappy opposite the dealership in Poole. :)

If you fancy doing the work yourself, there's a guide on my forum, follow that.

Plus if you fancy being able to do 70mph on the motorway then you would want it up at 5000rpm.

You can set VTEC to come in at varying throttle pressures, so on my DC5 for example, full throttle VTEC was 4500 rpm and part throttle VTEC was 6000 rpm.

I appreciate what you're saying but unless the car also had the same mods and FRS setup as mine then it wouldn't really be a fair test. Think it's one of those things I'll have to live and learn from :)

Well, I've had my fair share of VTEC-y0 by now;

Accord Type-R
JDM DC2 Integra (modded to hell and back)
Honda S2000 x 2
Civic EP3 (current car)
And possible next one is a Supercharged EP3  Although I must admit, a DC5 is v v tempting...

Most enjoyable for me? The 04 S2k I had, very neutral handler in comparison to my twitchy as **** 99 version (which I wrote off!) :D
DC5 > S/C Ep3.

You think? What's your reasoning m8 (IIRC you've had both)

cheers

The Civic will only ever be another Civic. A DC5 is a bit more special. It has better standard parts too, such as Recaro's, LSD, HIDS, hydraulic steering and the chassis feels much better when pressing on. Plus it looks miles better and is uber rare.

Does anyone on here own an NSX ? if so, puuucs!

My mate had one for a few years, sold it in 2009 iirc.

Not really, just make sure the tensioner has been checked if over 75k and also that it has a new clutch. Also steering rack noises = avoid.

excellent news, worth considering the bridgestone 002 at all then?

Why wait? There's nothing wrong with AD08's except you'll have to take it easy in the wet (would be the same for the Bridgestone).

Prices for AD08's seem half decent at the moment and Bridgestones out right now seem a little more.
