Type R and VTEC owners

You may find, as it's entirely different between engines, that oil consumption is higher with the 'thinner' oils such as 0-30. For example my DC5 burns about a litre a trackday on 0-40 but uses next to nothing with 10-60.

When did 10-60 come in outside of M cars? Isn't it a bit thick for the engine?
TGM have been using it in their race cars and track going customers cars for years.

I've been told by a few people that it is too thick. I'm not going to say I've used it 'without an issue' as I haven't and I don't know if anyone has actually analysed the oil yet.

Had the car detailed today by Jimmer on the DC5 forum. He's starting out doing other people's cars after doing it as a hobby. Really pleased with the results! Also renewed the side decals as they were past their best.

Also cleared out and sorted the garage so I could fit the car in. I've been meaning to do it for ages because there's new houses going up so there's dust everywhere.

Fits nicely.

I've had the house two and a half years and the garage has always been full of junk so I'm proper chuffed with it.

As per my other thread I had an issue with the RBC throttle body adaptor which was sorted. Very productive day!

Chris

That looks fabulous, be careful buddy, I got the M3 driving so nice and looking so good, I practically stopped taking it on track days and just started driving it as a daily as it became such a capable all rounder. ;)
Cheers. I only paid £150 + fuel for it and he's left it so I can just hand wash it. He said he'll come up and do it again if I want so I'm not too concerned. Next track day is in August where I'm off to Combe again.

I'll be having mine rebuilt. I don't like second hand engines and gearboxes as you never know what the state of them are inside. If mine is rebuilt I know exactly where I stand.

Didn't you have some work done on the box relatively recently Chris, uprated synchros and a different final drive wasn't it? :)

What's the actual problem with the box, some gears gone, noise, lever jammed or what?
I had a Kaaz diff put in, shorter final drive and a new clutch.

It's noisy on idle, won't select most gears and grinds if you try and lift the clutch when you do find a gear.

2" hole in my gearbox, internals all toast. Only salvageable item was the diff. Ordered a replacement gearbox.

Also put a deposit on an FD2. So I'll be stripping and selling the Teg.

The rear suspension is multilink vs torsion on the FD2 for a start. :)

It only a Mugen grille and Spoon baffled sump, but they don't need as many mods as the older cars as the intake, intake manifold and exhaust manifold design is vastly superior. So they only need a remap, decat and catback to make the same power. I've already ordered an exhaust and FlashPro, looking into a BBK now and I'm chasing up for a decat. Not sure I'll touch the suspension, stock is meant to be very good on track compared to the earlier cars and also FN2.

Picked the FD2 up yesterday. It's a very impressive car, even with crap tyres overly keen ABS on the standard brakes (could be the tyres).

Need to get my DC5 back on the road and sell it.

Likely the tyres, back in the day my EP3 had similar reactions to naff tyres in anything but hot dry conditions (Parada Spec II).

Can't be many blue ones in the UK, looks lovely. What wheels are those? Shame about the DC5, not tempted to keep it and daily the FD?
Yeah I expect it's the tyres, Yoko C drive or something and the rears are Hankooks of some form. The fronts start to complain at the slightest aggresive turn in, it's not nice. I'm on the lookout for some decent 18" wheels, if I can't find any then I'll throw the DC5 Rotas on with AD08R's in the meantime. The wheels are WedSport which will be getting sold soon.

I work 4 miles from home, so my daily is my pushbike or the bus.

Sounds like the underside is covered in rust, I personally wouldn't bother. It's not as if it's a rare car without plenty of others to choose from.

Just back from Spa and the 'ring in my FD2, for having standard suspension still it's an incredible machine out of the box. So planted and fast through the corners. Very happy with my decision to get one.
