Type R and VTEC owners

Fitted the new rear pads to the s2000 this morning, what a bitch of a job that was, the passenger side rear caliper was really seized in quite bad and it took a good hour to be able to get it in enough to fit the new pads, both me and my girlfriend, me holding the caliper and her turning the caliper winding tool, the seal bunch'd up quite badly on that side but did not tear, the other side it was a lot easier to wind back in, but the seal split :(

So looks like im in need of 2x new rear calipers, another set of pads, most likely discs, and new brake fluid, going to leave it for the winter when the car is off the road and try and drive the car the least possible, but seems the brakes are working fine now with no excess heat on the wheel or strange noises

The rear passenger outside pad had worn down to the metal, while the inside pad had some good amount left on it

What is the EP3 market like out there these days? It's a few years since mine now and I know they're getting old.... will 3 or 4k get a nice car? I am thinking of chopping my Focus in and sticking the left overs in the house deposit fund and having a nice simple reliable EP3.

I sold an 04 Cosmic EP3 with 96k on the clock and a couple of subtle mods (b pipe, eibachs, camber arms etc) towards the upper end of that budget a couple of months back.

Parts aren't too expensive, just get it done as rear brake issues are not the best way to drive a car.

Callipers are what ? £90

Seen some on ebay for around £103 each, not sure if i would need pads and discs or not, but then thats another £150, plus new fluid at £20-30, its just an expense i dont want to stomach after just buying a full set of tyres and OHLIN suspension lol, cars costing me a fortune! Got front compliance bush's to sort out during winter, and may as well powerflex the camber as the rear is powerflexed too, more than likely the ARB links will be seized so will need new ones at £100+ got my alloys to refurb which i want diamond cut so £450+ for the set, and then want to get the full front of the car sprayed to remove stone chips, so probably £800? for a propper job :((

Just picked up some MTEC blanks for my DC2 from here..

http://www.freakyparts.co.uk/

Was £153 inc delivery for all 4 discs, this was including silver anti-rust coating, so the parts that don't contact the pads will always look great and non rusted :)

Not listed on his site, found them in a forum post.

Also sells dimpled, grooved, drilled etc. Went for normal blanks.

I assume he can get S2000 discs too.

My brother just bought my old EP3 who I sold to a mate for £2500. 04 plate, Milano red, brand new OEM clutch, 108k miles. Can get them pretty cheap but depends on condition really.

I'd focus on making it stop properly, seized rear brakes make them very unstable under hard/emergency braking.

Why do you need new pads if you've just fitted? New disks aren't too expensive if your happy with non OEM. OEM are £103

dunno lol, was just thinking if i change my discs even though the pads are fairly new i will need new ones or is this not the case? Im guessing it will be a good week before i get them and fit them, so maybe 100-150 miles on the new pads?

Just ordered 2x new refurbed calipers from ebay £199.95 Inc delivery, also ordered 2liters of ATE type 200 dot 4 brake fluid, will this fluid be ok for the clutch as well? and will 2 liters be enough for the brakes and clutch?

The RE002's have started bedding in now. The car has gone from an understeering mess with little feel and grip from the front, to something quite agile and a giggle around corners. I'm over the moon with what a difference it's made. :)

When you track a car stuff brakes. Like In my case brake pads last 2-3k miles
My mate ripped out transmission mount from ford focus RS gearbox on Donington car had 12 000 miles... Thank god warranty covered new gearbox.
My other mate finished engine in RX8 off after rebuild in 12 000 miles covered by rebuild warranty
Ask anyone that tracks a car... **** DOES NOT LAST

Integra cable tie spec :D Funny enough i throw money at it all the time 2000 pounds went in this year mostly on repairs of stuff i broke :D

You have a lot of patience man, I would have run out of patience pretty quickly if stuff needed fixing a lot, but at least your driving your car the way it was designed to be driven!

lemonade truth is I DONT NEED A CAR AT ALL.
I do freerunning or powerwalking depending on contusions EVERYWHERE..... Last year i traveled on my legs more miles than with my Integra :D I run to store to work to get some herbs ;)
I truly love cars and i own it just for joy of driving and fixing it myself... I only drive it to raves and motor events thats about it :D
