Type R and VTEC owners

Quite a few people on CTRO with new Type R's and no issues.

These were the lucky ones that got their pre-order unlike me whom they delivered the wrong car. Hopefully those on CTRO will be ok, but personally I am just glad I am out of the whole Type R saga as much as it was a hoot to drive the demo car.

Be interesting to see if any of the other 4 people who ordered one have issues. :p

Are you waiting on the new Type R ?

There are many potential Type R owners frustrated and not being told anything from Honda UK. I have counted at least 4 alone on their FB cancelling the orders after 4+ failed deliveries and no explanations. The place is full of rumours and Honda saying nothing on their own page.

Still waiting for Auto Express to finalise the article with me on the whole sorry affair.

Shocking really.

Nah, I wish but more than content with the S2K. Besides, way out of my price range. That and she'd murder me. Straight up murder. :)

I just had a quick look on their FB page, there's a serious amount of people having a moan across the board. Type R, Honda unHappiness etc. Grim reading.

would probably be just as well getting TGM to put a new seal kit in there then mate.

Yeah that's the plan now I think.

Got a source or more information on this?

Latest news on the delayed New Type R's is that they are blowing valves and they have changed production for engines to Ohio hence the delays and stonewalling by Honda to all those STILL waiting for deliveries.

So glad I cancelled the order now.

Mike, the original source is probably me via someone I know who works in Swindon for Honda - I posted it on TRO last week or the week before. There's an issue where the wrong valves have been fitted or something along those lines. Production delayed 2 weeks minimum.

It all started when someone took their car back to the dealer due to some issues. The dealer stripped the head and had an 'oh ****' moment and got Honda UK involved. They then ceased production with the workers being told 2 weeks minimum and all affected cars to be recalled. I don't know how many cars it affects, I didn't even know about the Ohio engine plant change till after I was told the news.

Thats why in my opinion Honda cars ended when they moved production out of Japan.. How can I call a car Japanese when its not made in ****ing japan ??

bit OT but. I ordered Mizuno limited edition marathon running trainers strait from Japan... Came after few weeks and... Made in china sticker killed it :( could have ordered ones here and save 60 pounds :/

lol thats globalisation, cheaper to make things elsewhere, a lot of the electrical stuff is now made in China, Thailand and you can notice the difference in quality with things that were or are made in Japan. Swindon used to make quality cars when they had people from Japan overseeing it, as soon as it goes into British hand with autonomy it becomes a British Leyland style operation.

I love it when I'm in the mood to push it. Even more so on trackdays. Just fancy something faster and with a turbo.

Yeah I feel if i repair it then I'll start worrying about where I park it. At the moment I couldn't give a toss.

I resprayed bits on my car not long ago, became anal about leaving it parked in places too, not long after some idiot swiped the front bumper which has come of its clip and left nice scuff marks. Nothing you can do about stuff like that, now I just enjoy the car as much as I can, when you start worrying too much about things like that you stop enjoying the car in my opinion.

I think you'll get bored of a Turbo if you like engaging high revving cars, unless its something like an Impreza.

lemonade i know like 12 years ago when I was working in Lear/kamax car electrical harness factory mostly for Ford focus and Mondeo plus big ones for Volvo Trucks.

Nissan came over when they ware considering having a contract for their cars at our **** hole. They walked around for 1 day and left faster than came .... Build quality was crap. You should see what sort of trix we used to pull off with em just to make the ****ing Target.

Missing snapped pulled wires was a daily thing in them Ford focus ones... And thats why electrical stuff on focuses are ****... Cause when you have people working on production line 5/6 days a week 10-12 hour shifts with crazy harness / hour targets at 300pounds/month wage THATS WHAT YOU GET. Damn one summer for a week there was 41c in there sweat was pouring from us people fainting and ****.
And thats why I will never EVER own a Focus well new RS i would not mind but....

Undecided what to do with the Civic.

It's just had a service and MOT yesterday and I'm thinking of selling.

Cosmetically it's crap. Needs a front end respray and wheel refurb and could do with a good polish. It's just about to tick over 110,000 miles and it's a 2003 PFL.

Do I clean it up myself which will cost about £400-£500 or sell it as is?

Or do I keep it and start fettling with it as I have no idea what to replace it with without spending 5 figures. Only thing I've changed so far in 3 years is the exhaust.

Absolutely no idea what to do!

buy my dc2

12months MOT now m8

So update on my brakes, following issues found.

Rear right caliper seized.
Rear left sticking.
Pads all down to metal.

Going for some Brembo HP 2000 pads and new calipers on the rear.

No wonder the rear were getting hot.

Just goes to show, its worth making sure everything is working properly before deeming that a car needs brake upgrades. That is going to much more stable under braking now.

I had the rears looked at in September and all was good, sliding freely etc.

Edit. Might have been in the summer actually.

Booking Donnington for the end of the month, time to get the hardtop on as well I think.

Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new after market steering wheel for the daily, I've had my eye on the OMP Kubik/Super quadro wheel, I quite fancy a flat bottom/top wheel in a suade finish preferably with a center line mark, Has anyone got one of these I'd like to know how they are to live with and if they are nice and rigid, I'd hate to get one and find they flex about I've seen some poor nardi/personal replica videos of them bending like toffee

Yeah that my daily, Had it out on a trackday at Croft as it's first test, I still need to sort the gearbox, front brakes, and cat back exhaust out before I'm happy to hit some decent track time.

Went to check the valve adjustment on the S2000 since it was well overdue when i was met with this, which I could clearly see was not normal wear on the camshaft

Having read enough times of cracked valve spring retainers on the s2000. i thought it was time too look closer. With the camshafts in place its quite difficult to tell if there is a issue.

Got the camchafts out to this picture. Its hard to see in picture form but as you can tell the left valve is sitting lower in the retainer than the right valve which probable means the other side has cracked and the vavle has dropped slightly.

I thought the right hand side one was going to be fine and it looked like all the rest on the intake side. this picture tells a different story

As you can see both are cracked and although ive only completed cylinder one, I suspect that all of them on the intake side may be cracked to some degree.

Now i have never Overrevved the car, which is meant to be the cause of this but the car has had a few owners so how long its been like this is unknown.

May be worth checking out if you have a s2000 pre 2004
