Type R and VTEC owners

Not really. Some 4 Pot turbo's sound fantastic. I think I should keep my Mugen 200 hidden from you then as it has the full aero kit on it, including the full aero bumpers :D.

Have you seen the super charged champ white thats up for sale on civinfo?

Not been on CivInfo for a while and I've just had a quick look at it. Its awesome and a good price considering all the work that must have gone into it.

I recall my friends evo also sounded boring. I'd be very tempted.

This! I've seen Evo X's fly past me, watching acceleration vids, They don't sound like there's a 300+ BHP beast underneath.

The family 2L Accord sound's better on acceleration, Honda just seem to make 4 pots sound good....Except for the new Type R, Even with its "sporty" exhaust, it sounds dull and not exciting.

I recall my friends evo also sounded boring. Is it the nature of turbo 4 cars?

There's no getting around it, whereas they (mostly speaking of Evo's 7-9) sound quite nice and lumpy at idle - engine noise isn't a major plus point.

That being said, there are plenty of noises within the cabin which sound interesting. Transmission noise, and turbo spool are typically much noisier than other lower powered turbo cars in my experience.

It's probably one of the things I miss more from when I had my Honda, but then again, it's always clear when you are trying hard in a Honda - sometimes it's nice to float past people on overtakes with it hardly looking like the car is trying.

Can still see myself back in a Honda - sadly NSX prices are on the rise, S2k's are like hens teeth over here and FD2/DC5's aren't much better availability wise.

I'd love an FD2, great looking things imo, I'd really love to have an Accord CL7 Euro R, But for the price I'd rather get a DC5 as people would know its something special, the uneducated would just see it as your typical Accord.....Until they realise they can't overtake it :D

I was tempted to get an FD2 but what put me off was knowing I would have to go the FI route to get any enjoyment out of it, which is why I started with the FK as it's a good base for me. 400/400 is going to be easy soon, just waiting for a few developments with Hondata etc. Not that I feel I need that but you know, just like to fiddle a bit.

My Evo 8 is lumpy at idle and it's only running about 340bhp. The turbo spool and air entering the turbo the wrong was is entertaining though.

Anyway, cheapest/best place to buy a AEM V2 for an EP3? Not worried about heat soak, I just want some noise. I have the Evo if I want to make progress.

Not seen my car for a week as it's been in the garage to try and diagnose a weird squeak from the OSF (which was there pre-lowering), changed all sorts from ARB D bushes, drop links, wishbone bushes, ball joints, track rod end, top mount... so decided the shock must be at fault. Expensive when I want to be spending zero!

I am actually looking forward to getting it back tomorrow after a week driving a 1.2 Punto 8v haha. I was looking into a cheaper car and have been making enquiries but most of the sellers are total douches.... however I have a strong feeling I'll drive this now the rear camber arms are on and properly aligned and love it all over again. Then keep it. For a week or two.

Acme are you reading this haha.

I need to clean mine and work out why the left speaker isn't working. I've already checked the loom and swapped the speakers but the still persists. I have a new head unit that I was going to fit anyway so I'll see if the crappy single DIN that's in there is at fault.

Don't shoot me.

In my quest to find a decent cheap car, mostly looking at another Accord either the 2.2 diesel or 2.4 petrol (Most likely go for the 2.4) but after seeing one randomly pass me the other day it could be a contender.

Anyone owned or had experience with the EP2 Type S 2.0? Ok its a bland looking car, but the whole point of it is to be a cheap reliable car for getting from A to B and back to A, and its a cheap buy, quite a few low low milers on AT around the £2k mark

All I know is its the same 2L Engine found in the family Accord but with an extra 10bhp so its a reliable unit from experience, so opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I had an accord ages ago, it think it was the sport and not the type S. But it was a very comfortable car and a great mile eater on the motorway. It was always very reliable and never let me down. My only real criticism was that I found it a bit boring.

My old man has a 2003 Accord Sport 2.0, Which I used to have for 2 years, its great car but I've always said it needs an extra 50 horsepower.

Now on 160k miles the only major thing to go wrong on it is the Brake master cylinder is leaking and that's it, so reliable and cheap.

But I'm talking about the Honda Civic EP2 Type S 2.0.

Yes I would agree an extra 50HP would have made it much better. I always found the suspension a bit too soft for my liking but then I am used to an FN2

Reading on an Accord forum, there's a Reflash out for the CL9 2.4 that's suppose to transform the car.

VTEC kicks in at 4.5k RPM and an increased redline of 7.8k and a slight increase in torque in the lower rev range, Some are saying that they're seeing 0-60 times in the region of 6.7-7s which is mighty impressive for a heavy saloon.

Anyone tried such a thing? Could influence a purchase of a CL9 for me.

That's Littlebo's reflash, it does change the car, it also modifies other bits like the electronic throttle, the factory map has a delay on, reflash take sit away so response is more instant.

Coupled with an intake & exhaust which can add 10bhp more it does make the car more 'alive'.

The EP2 Type S are really nice cars too.

That's the one, does sound mighty impressive, and considering I found the 2.0 when I owned it to be quite reasonable to look after, I can't imagine the 2.4 being any different.

Hmm, decisions decisions
