hmm never considered an FD2, certainly dont see mny about and thats a good thing in my eyes, plus the extra 2 doors would be handy. Insurance should be ok though - 40 year old with loads of no claims, i must admit I know nothing about imports.

Well I've viewed 3 fn2 type it's in the last week and the last 2 have been bad/waste of my time.

Didn't even bother to test drive them as realistically without a full respray the cars would always look proper sketchy.

Lesson learned today, when Evans halshaw tell you that the car has good year was f1s fitted. They might only mean the rears - which are cracked and not in great condition.

The fronts were still wet with black paint dress and were 'sunny' branded .

Whwn I asked about the body work and interior they told me it was mint as it had been through their service dept before sake. It looked like it had been dragged through a hedge backwards.

The seat bolsters were heavily worn and fraying.

The car was 2011and is not what I would expect for a 2011 car.

None of the cars in their yard were in such bad condition, even older cheaper cars...2 hour round trip wasted.

Sorry to hear that, I hate buying cars for this reason. Did a 4 hour round trip for a mate once and it turned out to be a total dog, pictures were of the car from 2 months before sale date. Wheel arch trim missing. Tatty old bumper on because the "proper ones being resprayed m8" etc, gearbox felt like you're sticking a wooden spoon sludge.

Might be worth popping on some Civic groups on FB to see what's going, can get some cracking prices on there. I'd much rather buy a car from an owner that's had the car a while and knows the history rather than a dealer/trader where possible.

I know and I've tried I'm.onnthe Facebook groups and posted a wanted but no one either has or is selling. Im just going to keep cgecking. Im not in a desperate rush bit if I can't find one in decent condition then I.might look at something else. Already been thinking about a Scooby wrx.

I took out one of the new Civic Type R's today from Wolverhampton Honda. I spent the day with my father doing bloke stuff which included a few visits to dealerships as his Porsche was in Wolverhampton OPC for some work as he is up in the Midlands this week. We had popped in to see the NSX they had in there, which unfortunately they could not open (bloody complex hybrids!) but they have a nice blue Type R in the showroom and I still need a daily car. So I asked if they have one on test duties and not 5 minutes later I was spanking it around some local country roads.

One of the most impressive cars (as in the car that impressed me more than I expected) I have driven for years. Such a well sorted car and I can see why it's topping all the road tests at the moment, is astoundingly good. Compared to the Golf R I drove similarly briefly a few weeks back, it was a different league when it came to how it drove, steered and went around corners. The Golf R is quick, the end. This thing felt so much more sorted, more involving to drive and so well balanced. I was incredibly impressed and it reminded me how much fun a good hot hatch still is. On a nice flowing road, let's say like the Evo Triangle, nothing would get away from it outside of the long straight bits. Even in it's stiffest settings it was incredibly pliant and sorted and just road over bumps and cambers with aplomb.

I did feel the brakes lacked feel and the gearbox was not MX5 quality (still good) and pedals could be a little closer together but that is nit picking. It looks bloody ludicrous but what are car, fantastic device.

Decent write up there, my personal take is that the capabilities of these cars is such that it they will do nought to a magistrate court in a few seconds, which frightens me. Lower power cars that you can thrash and not be doing silly speeds just don't appeal to the marketplace. Maybe I'm too cynical and used to living in a city where you don't see the need for speed.

Really impressed me. When you get in a car and it feels right pulling out the dealership you know they’ve done it right. The lack or torquesteer was impressive, not lest when compared to the Megane Trophy I drove a while back which pulled you all over the road and frankly put me off the car. This bar the smallest of pulls put its power down very well and it has a chunk more than the Renault too.

We found an island on a industrial estate where I could have a play and the front end just bit and felt planted. Lift off and around came the back in a lovely controlled slide. All FWD racers are built to pivot around the front which was evident when I drove a Clio race car last year and this follows that if far less agressive in manner. I think on track it would be good fun and show up many quicker cars.

Styling and interior are not class leading but frankly a car like this is all about how it drives for me and this is why I don’t have a Golf R.

I get that and with all the camera tools on the road the fear of appearing in the Daily Scum after making safe but rapid progress is ever more real. We have a country and nation that “knows best”. The camera and the internet gives them a voice and an audience as it does the police with their need to socialise 88mph speeds on a motorway criminals. Sorry next generation...you’re ******.

When a few of us from here did Wales and I gave them a guided run of the Evo Triangle I said one thing. “Attack the bends, slow down on the straights.” Still fun and still meant you leave most as dots in the mirrors but never excessive. We passed a police car on a straight bit and he never batted an eyelid and all came back red and full of energy because the bends are the best bits not the 150mph “back stretch” which is a power thing. MX5 would be epic round the bends the Type R fantastic.

Coming up to my 10th year of owning my DC2. Still makes me smile when i drive it

As a daily driver, it's been pretty awesome!

Could do with a large 6th gear for motorway, but i only do about 6000 miles a year.

This year, I need to get the sills and paintwork sorted.

Same here, great cars, had a JDM '98 spec in Vogue Silver from around '05-'08 which was followed by a Clio 197 (Cup pack) and FN2 CTR GT. Neither came near the DC2 so they only lasted around 10 months each and I eventually settled on a '05 111S Lotus Elise. Fast forward a decade or so and I now have a DC5 with a view to keeping it long term. I know there are better and faster modern hatches out there but when I drive the DC5 it makes me laugh as much as my DC2 and Elise did :D

This. So much this.

Nostalgia maybe, but the days I spent chasing my mate in his various MX5s and Elise across Northumberland were the greatest driving days. It was also before kids though. :p
