BigglesPiP - if you upgraded then you are still on the old GRUB. You need to do a..

sudo apt-get install grub2

then reboot to test

then a..

sudo upgrade-from-grub-legacy

.. all worked ok for me

Yea, gathered that, can the new GRUB work with /boot inside LVM?

Also, damn sound driver, won't remember volume between sessions.

Have you tried typing alsactl store in the shell?

Ps. I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10, last time I tried Ubuntu was with 8.04 which I thought incredibly slow; this new version is total opposite - quite like it. :)

skippi90, what theme is that you've got installed?

2 things and I would make a permanent switch to Ubuntu.

1. Adobe programs - Photoshop, Flash etc.
2. Football Manager and Steam

If I could use these on Ubuntu, Windows would be dead to me.

yep I second that I'm still thinking of a way to play football manager.

The closest I have got is using a virtual machine which has windows 7 installed on it.

But just how can that be achieved?

I think wine allows photoshop and steam to work well.

FM2010, not to sure on, but can't see why not.

Try it to find out?

I have only got steam working before, for steam your can just use the steaminstaller.exe from the internet and not use the Half-Life 2 CD.

I ain't got time to look into FM2010 just yet, got an assignment to write up today!

:)

What till .walls posts in here I think he has steam working well using wine, he probably can help with photoshop as well.

I tried to make the switch over the weekend, Skype was playing up a bit, saying I had multiple instances running, tres odd. But upon rebooting, I was faced with a gnome power management error, which prevented me from logging on? I was confused as hell, tried googling it and found nothing. Luckily, I hadn't done much with it apart from setup WoW and install Skype\Pidgin and ATI drivers.
