Just built my new rig and it's pretty damn nice...

Dominator 1600/6gb
i7 920 D0
UD5

However it doesn't seem to like overclocking. Tried BCLK 180/1.3 vcore and it just don't take it.

Any advice/template settings that I could use without too much fannying around?

QPI is the link you're missing, my box (same components) seems to need more on qpi than on vcore at 200x20.

What version is your ram? I'm trying to source some v3.2 dominator to match the current set, if you bought yours recently and it matches this number it's good news for me :)

what memory speed are you running? what cpu vcore are you? what qpi link speed are you? what qpi volt are you? can you take any screen shots of your bios?

I'm using the settings visible in the above post and the above PDF - nothing different.

Bios is F7.

RAM is Dominator 1600mhz (3*2)

i know your mem is 1600 but what is it running at mo!
Firstly change your uncore mulit.what ever your mem multi is your uncore has to be 2x +1 e.g.(mem=8x so uncore =17x)

I have changed the uncore as per the two guides above...

This is really ******* me off now.

Why and what to? They appear to be default...I wouldn't have thought that would prevent me from doing anything or would it?

Try
QPI Link x36
Uncore x 18
Isochronous enable

XMP disable (if you have that option)
Memory multiplier x 8

Set RAM timings manually to 9 9 9 24 1T (I'm sure your RAM will do tighter than that, but it should be a safe start)
DRAM Voltage 1.64

:)
