UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 15th September 2022]

It wasn't a perfect performance but we played well today and should have won more comfortably than we did. Now withdraw everybody from International duty, send the squad to Dubai for a week and come back fit and firing in October.
I thought we played very well, Ajax are a very good side and we limited them to 2 or 3 shots all night. Still a bit disappointing in the final 3rd but it was a good performance.

Trent was brilliant in the 2nd half and all we get is BT showing one clip over and over of a player running past him to cross a ball, it was like it was the first time this sort of thing has happened in the history of football.

Then procced to say his only good work was going forward, take it they missed all the Ajax attacks he broke up and then set our attacks under way.

Getting a joke now all the grief he gets.

He's an easy target. but He should have tracked his man for the goal though. Matip has to do it instead leaving VVD in no mans land.

These types of things happen loads in every game, player being played in behind a defender and a CB needs to cover it, plus Rio went on the explain the CB's should have been communicating with Trent in this situation but weren't and then just proceeded to blame Trent again even though he said in Trent's defence the CB'should be doing it.

French supporters have gone crazy in recent years, must something in the water, maybe all that **** the UK are flooding the channel with

I mentioned it a bit around the chaos at the CL final but French football is ****ing mental right now. For the past 18 months or so those sorts of scenes have become common place. Last season matches were being delayed or called off for fan disorder almost every week. I've got a friend in France who sends me twitter videos every weekend of pure madness and I joke that Syria is safer than attending a Ligue 1 game.

From what I saw Nice vs Koln was just as bad last week, again with fireworks and flares being launched back and forth. My friend initially told me that somebody had died but it turned out not to be the case but somebody was left in critical condition in hospital.

It's worth noting that Koln supporters played their part in the troubles last week and from what I read on twitter pre-game, a section of Frankfurt supporters had turned up for trouble too.

To be fair to Barca, they went toe to toe with Bayern and could easily have come out the victors in that game. They are looking good from what I can tell. But they probably should as they have spent a lot of money and already had a half handy side.
