UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 15th September 2022]

You're going to have to replace Nunez next summer once you realise hes gubbins :p

Won't have any money left.
You're talking from experience? :p

We'll sign 2 CM's and possibly a defender in the summer, it's hardly a massive rebuild. And if you exclude City's imaginary commercial deals, last season we had the biggest revenue in the League and that gap will widen this season.

I know you're joking but Nunez has played the equivalent of 2 and a bit games lol.

You can see Liverpool spending close to 200 million next summer then? Also from what I see is Man Utd's revenue is still larger than Liverpool's which really says something as we have been insignificant for the past half decade.

I'm not sure I said we'd spend that much but we certainly could. We spent £223m gross, £163m net in 18/19 from revenues of £530m odd. We're now turning over £600m+.

And you're most probably looking at figures from 20/21 - they've not been officially released yet but for the 21/22 season Liverpool's revenue will be more than Utd's (by around £20m) and it will almost certainly be even greater this season.

As I see it there are 2 likely scenarios with Bellingham, either he wants to go to Liverpool for something other than financial reasons, it’s all agreed in principle but Dortmund understandably didn’t want to lose him and Haaland in the same summer so it’s just a matter of sorting the details and waiting for next summer or it’s a genuine fight on the open market in which case one of the big guns will offer him a salary we’re not prepared to match and we’ll end up looking stupid. I don’t see the transfer fee as an issue as I’d assume we’ve budgeted for it well ahead of time and we’ve shown that whilst we don’t like paying big salaries for mercenaries we’re not afraid to pay a big transfer fee for the right player.

The fact that it’s being so openly talked about as an almost inevitable transfer in the media without the club using back channels to temper the expectation leads me to believe it’s the first scenario but maybe I’m just being optimistic.
