UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5th - 7th November 2024]

Weird eh, United fans getting excited for a new manager who is by all accounts very good and whose team from the Portuguese league has just battered easily one of the best sides in the world. Football fans are funny right ;)
The deleted posts from the other thread are so true.

It is quite funny how utd fans getting hyped because his team beat city
Don't know about you, but when I watch football and its not my team playing I will support one of those 2 teams. Fortunately, one of those teams tonight, the manager is coming to my team. So why the **** cant we be hyped, excited, optimistic? To add, ANY team beating CITY is something for a UTD fan to be happy about.

Not sure who the City commentator was during the game on TNT sports but all I heard was bleating on about injuries. Let's see how the great Pep responds when he hasn't got the worlds riches at the click of his fingers

The flip side is that Ajax were good when ETH managed them

I heard them keep talking about how City should have taken some of their amazing chances in the first half. They made 1.5xG vs Sportings 1.6xG if you discount penalties and their only goal was a really poor goalkeeping mistake.

So what you're saying is that United fans shouldn't be excited about their incoming manager for any reason and shouldn't enjoy it when City are being beaten by their incoming manager. Got it.

some utd fans acting like its utd that beat city

Well that was rather good. A quiet first half that we probably shaded but that was an outstanding 2nd half performance and Leverkusen couldn't live with us. So pleased for Diaz both tonight and the start of this season as a whole. Ever since signing for us he's always played well but never quite got the goal return his play deserved. Another one I'm really pleased for is Jones. You knew when he first came into the first team squad that there was a player there but he's just never been able to fully show it. Hopefully that's in the past and we see more of these performances he's put in this last weeks because he's got everything you need to be a top class midfielder.

Hopefully that's us well on the way to automatic qualification. Looking at the table and it could be a wild last 4 rounds for some other sides though. I know there's more games to come tomorrow but currently Sporting, Villa, Monaco and Brest are in the top 8 with Leipzig 31st, Atletico 28th, Bayern 25th, PSG 23rd, Real 17th. There could be some very tasty play-off games to be had.
