If every referee did this they would eliminate players crowding the ref within a week I reckon. Few second yellows resulting in reds would soon get the message through to them.

"Why did you get a red card?"

"Oh I wanted to try and bully the ref into giving a card for an innocuous foul on one of my teammates".
