UEFA Champions League 6/7 December *** Spoilers ***

:o

It hurts it really hurts

Fergie could win nothing this season, Guardiola could win everything and you know what he still wouldn't be a better manager than Fergie

I dont really agree with this. At the end of the day Fergie did have possibly the best team in the world. they proved that they were when they won the champions league. But that was a very different looking team.

It had Tevez, Ronaldo etc top 3 world footballer and a top 10 world footballer. Both of these have left and never been replaced with adequate quality. Nor has the way we play changed to reflect the new quality of the team. Credit to fergie, he built the dream team, twice. But subsequent lapses in quality after assembling the team or simply bad tactics have cost us since.

You mention players like Etoo..now gone. They took a player that UTD must have rated as awful prospect - Pique and now he is a first team player for FCB won champions leagues, world cup? european cup? Thats a manager.

They have a wealth of midfielders but xavi etc is old. so do they let him lapse and fail to try to replace him? Nope just buy possibly the best CM from in (Fabregas). Integrate him early, no problems.

Its not the same as going out to buy Miller, Kleberson, carrick, realising they are awful then buying someone else. The money has been there to make 30mill signings, Berbatov is an indicator of this. Yet its just been frittered away on people like him, Valencia etc...

It hurts it really hurts

One manager has inherited the best team in the world, the fact that another manager can't lead a set of players clearly not as good as the opposition to victory therefore means he's not as good? Seriously do you really need everything spelling out for you?

Lets look at it another way Real Madrid Barca's only challengers in their two league team couldn't get the better of Barcelona in the 4 biggest meetings between the two last season does that mean Mourinho's not as good as Guardiola either then?

Guardiola inherited a team that had the foundations laid by Rijkaard previously, it was during Rijkaard's tenure that Barca won their first Champions League & their first La Liga for 5 years and what has Rijkaard done since leaving Barcelona?

Guardiola inherited a team that had the worlds best player, two of the worlds best midfielders and not to mention at that moment in time one of the worlds best strikers (Eto'o) to even suggest that Guardiola has achieved more in his tenure than Fergie has in the last 10 years is beyond stupid.

Has Guardiola built 4 or 5 different teams whilst keeping Barcelona at the top?
Has Guardiola seen off multiple different challenges from a varying different styles of opponents in his two team league?

I find it humorous that you chose to list Barca's trophy haul during Guardiola's reign as well, have you taken a look at Fergie's during that time?

2 Premier Leagues
2 Carling Cups
3 Charity Shields
1 Fifa World Club Cup

So he has 4 less trophies and given two of those that he didn't win was against Guardiola's inherited better side and 2 we couldn't compete in because they're only eligible for teams that have won the Champions League you're right Guardiola's haul in these 3 years is by far vastly better isn't it :o

There is no one best manager in the world and even if there is why should that be a negative for every other team in the world that doesn't have him in charge of their side? Where's this written rule that at all times Man Utd must have unequivocally the best manager in the world, the best players in every position in the world, win every game they play, win every competition they're involved in?

Fergie could win nothing this season, Guardiola could win everything and that still wouldn't make him the better manager

The_Running_Man just got absolutely sat down.

No Fletcher tonight

De Gea

Smalling
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Park
Jones
Giggs

Nani
Rooney
Young

Edit:

Bench: Lindegaard, Evans, Fletcher, Gibson, Valencia, Welbeck, Macheda

So Fletcher on the bench :/ I figured he was being rested for this game and that's why he didn't play against Villa. Something going on there.....

I still think City have a good chance of going through. Bayern will throw the last game so it's down to Napoli - Villareal really. Villarreal aren't a bad team and have solid CL experience and are at home, I wouldn't put it past them to get something off Napoli.

Either he's hamstrung by the club's current finances, or he's gotten very rubbish at spotting good players recently, but if anything that's only served to demonstrate how good a manager Ferguson is. To win the league last season with a squad that really wasn't all that, is the sign of a top manager.

I wonder if Hull vs Birmingham is on anywhere.

Chicho, Smalling, Jones, De Gea, Rafael, Fabio. His recent record is pretty damn good, he just seems a bit timid at going for a midfielder.

Rumour going round at the moment is that we're looking at Javi Martinez who was one of Spain's star performers at the under 21's. He's still fairly young at 23 though so if it's true then maybe he wanted to give him another year before committing

Looking at the players we were linked heavily with in the summer we should count our blessings we didn't get Nasri, hardly been great for City has he? Doesn't play in midfield either.

Many said the same thing about Dzeko, Milner, Richards and Balotelli last season....

It is very harsh to judge Nasri on his first season so far when he has only been here 6 months and tbh hasnt done badly, got 7 assists and about 3 goals i think. Not bad when your not 1st choice.
