UEFA Champions League 6/7 December *** Spoilers ***

Genk definitely did Chelsea a massive favour tonight, now that Chelsea are group winners they avoid a lot of tough opposition for the moment!

If we get through I'd say we're destined to get Inter after all the Sneijder business in the summer

He's pretty much the only good player they have left isn't he? That would be a great draw for you tbh, they're awful at the minute.

Edit: That second Olympiakos goal was truly special, from the keeper that is.

Second edit: Barcelona kids playing in the Champions League, win 4-0. Depressing :(

Worst Arsenal performance I can remember for a very long time, probably years in fact, the only players who emerged with any sort of credit were AOC, Vermaelen, Miquel and Benny.

In fact I felt sorry for Vermaelen, he was surrounded by mediocrity in literally all directions (left, right, behind, in front....), it's bad enough that he normally has to play CB and LB at the same time while Santos plays his one man offside trap but tonight he had Squillaci alongside him, well I say alongside, as soon as Vermaelen breaks into a brisk walk he'd leave Squillaci trailing in his wake. Even his cunning tactic of taking out Fabianski backfired as Mannone wasn't really an improvement.

Don't get me wrong, I know it was a meaningless game for Arsenal so not looking for too much doom and gloom, but it was still a very bad performance and I've seen much better from our weakened lineups in the past (e.g. vs Man City last week). When the score was 2-1 I was thinking christ, I've seen us lose 3-0 playing much better than this! Olympiakos pressured us well so felt a bit sorry for them not progressing, but ultimately they had their chances to get points over the 6 games so that's the way it goes.

Just got back from the bridge and i Have to say Chelsea were good tonight valencia had most of the possession but Chelsea were very potent and always looked likely to score

I was impressed with the drog live he was so strong they could not handle him

Sturbridge was good on the eyes, Matta has a good touch

For valencia iwas impressed by their number 8 for 50 minutes he was pretty damn good
Fergulli or something

That's three shall we say competitive games all won 3 nil
Good defensive shows each time and very great on the counter attack

I got a feeling next Monday will be very interesting indeed

Shame Chelsea still can't get a sell out against a good European Side.

That's in reference to Chelsea wanting a new Stadium.

Chelsea game was great to watch, seems like things are starting to improve throughout the pitch though i do still have doubts about how long drogba's legs will last.

Really liked watching Romeu, seems like a quality signing but i guess that will mean he goes back to barca after the long loan period.

Capacity = 42,449

Attendance= 41,109

Oh noes 1340 people didn't turn up. :o

Most of those would have been sold tickets, but people not being able to make it, it was 'sold out'

In CL games you lose about 1k seats anyway due to silly UEFA rules on distance to pitch, distance between corporate and normal ticket holders and 'empty seats' close to exits

Is that the "official reason" ?

I always thought it was more to do with good old fashion health and safety with Stadia losing seats in certain area's.

Its something about tv crews. If you look at Chelseas european match attendances they are always around the 38k mark because of it.

No. I've seen that once in the God knows how many times i've been. (Champions League semi-final)

Key to Chelsea's success tonight? Romeu

You mean this?

Sorry but Vermaelen was at fault for the first goal we conceded. daft pass to flopianski

It does tie in with Health and Safety I would guess, however its definitely a UEFA thing as we don't have the same problem in the PL with losing seats.

Doing a bit of a google suggests your not allowed fans in a position to cover up sponsorship boards with flags or banners either.

There were two of them and I was too busy having a good time to notice the time. :D

Did you use the tube in the end?

there was many seats free like 2/3 rows behind one of the goals
