UEFA Champions League/Europa League 1/2/3 April *** Spoilers ***

Much better from United last night. We started well especially the first 10 minutes but fell away pretty sharpish. Bayern looked good on the ball in the first half but really lacked a cutting edge final ball and seemed to run out of ideas. We defended really well for the most part and appeared much more disciplined than in recent weeks. Thank God we bought Kagawa on in the second half, he was by far our best player on the ball, no one else seemed to be able to hold onto the ball. No doubt its going to be tough in the away leg but hopefully this'll give the players a bit of confidence going into it. Valencia was a lucky boy but Schweinsteiger got a deserved second yellow. Stupid tackle on WR when we were breaking.

Valencia should have gone, two stupid tackles that should have both been yellows.

As for Rooney diving, I have no sympathy for them, we've had various decisions go against us whilst playing Bayern so **** them.

They also have Robben playing for them, who as we know, will go down like a sack of **** if he thinks he will get anything from it.

Absolutely, I wasn't bemoaning Bayern's bad luck, just the fact that it's a part of the game and shouldn't be. I hate diving and the fact that an Englishman has done it to get a kraut sent off doesn't make it any better. I still hate Ronaldo for the same. I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't diss Rooney for it.

I agree completely but the days are gone of us holding the moral high ground with these kind of things, something Man Utd have learnt the hard way playing in Europe.

As soon as he did it I thought, "He's off here" the German knew exactly what he was doing and it wasn't the tackle per se that got him sent off, it was the fact it was a technical foul that stopped Man Utd breaking. I'd love to see diving banned but whilst it isn't, let's play to the whistle and dive if need be to gain an advantage. Like every other team in the CL would do.

Valencia should have gone, undoubtedly.

What I will add is how frustrating it is to see Moyes get his tactics spot on against Europe's best, yet he can't fathom how to break down the likes of Stoke, Fulham et al.

I think believing in himself would do a lot of good for the guy.

I do too.

I think the problem is mostly this, against a team like Bayern, especially with United in such bad form, it was tailored made for a Moyes team, frustrate them, stop them playing and take your chances when you get them.

The problem arises when like you say, we're the bigger team and have to break down opposition defences, his tactical naivety really shows through.

Same reason he has struggled at home all season and yet is (or was) top of the away form table, he doesn't have an offensive plan other than counter attacking and that doesn't work when teams sit back.

Teh performances vs City and Liverpool were shameful. The one last night was full of heart, desire and trying to play to the advantage of the skills available within the team on the night.

Exactly. You analyse the strengths of your players and you play to emphasise your strengths and suppress your own weaknesses.
And this is where a good manager comes in.

Bizarrely, Moyes is actually pretty good in Europe. he has virtually no experienced in the CL, yet he seems better suited to CL football than premiership football.

Man Utd could easily have got beat 5-0 yesterday BUT because Moyes had a good tight plan and the players were willing to implement it, we got a draw.

I'm going to add that when teams sit back at Old Trafford, he does have a plan.
CROSS!
Ask Fulham. ;)

Apart from the retarded facial expression and body shape Rooney pulled didn't he have every right to dive over the guy, if he continues running a foot could get trapped whilst his entire body is moving forward.

Not a dive, an over exaggeration of jumping away from a reckless tackle, yellow card and foul every day

Oh yeah I meant an effective one. :p

You look at Liverpool and the way they attack they're like a hot knife through butter with their off the ball movement and through balls and everything, it's a complete contrast to United this season.
