UEFA Champions League/Europa League 15/16/17 March *** Spoilers ***

You can't ask any more from the lad. He is playing in a team of chumps. I thought he did ok tonight given the total lack of service. Lets face it United are a shambles and have shown no progression in 3 years. Liverpool ended up the comfortable winners. Truth is that they are two very average sides.

This is nothing against him, he's just not ready for what he's being asked to do. Every time he gets the ball he tries to do too much and loses it. He needs to be managed, not played into the ground.

Best team over and in both legs, went through. First half was fairly even but our 2nd half performance was excellent, looked comfortable at the back and could and should have picked them off on the break.

On a side note, Fellaini? How the **** does he get away with it every single game? It's ridiculous.
Highlights will be pretty easy. Just need to loop 'stopped by Sakho'.

Best performance he's put in for us. He was an absolute tower at the back - reminded me of Hyypia at his peak. Let's hope he can replicate that going forward.

Thought he was exceptional in the last league game we played against them as well. Lost his form completely straight after.

Sturridge isn't really fitting in to our way of playing at the moment, slightly concerned we've seen the best of him.

Even during the '14/15 season in the high tempo games he was always on the periphery but providing you can almost carry him, he's invaluable to have on the pitch because he's such a good goalscorer.

It's the games against sides that sit back and we're trying to break down where his importance is most.

If that doesn't kill off LVG then I think literally nothing will, he's there forever! If I wake up in the morning and he's still in a job, well it will be almost beyond belief. I think you would get better results with Steve Bruce.

Mourinho's getting the job in the summer. Utd have wrote the season off and Mourinho would rather take the job in the summer rather than now.

Not sure I agree, he's got a great burst of pace but he looks knackered everytime he tries to press the opposition and I'm not sure Klopp will want to carry him. We looked better as soon as Origi came on.

Sakho was decent tonight, nothing more. We are pretty **** whenever we got anywhere near the goal and you defended in numbers and broke on us. Its amazing that every team doesn't play like that against us because any team that has done that this season has either beaten us or got a draw. We don't attack in numbers yet we don't defend in numbers either. Its quite stunning how we don't seem to be well covered in either area.

Your defence is **** and we didn't test it more than a few times in the whole game.

The best team over two legs, by some distance, went through. Liverpool were good tonight, however it remains that Manchester United were abysmal.

Shame about the fighting at the end and that a kid United supporter, was hit by a chair at the end.

Thought Martial looked good tonight along side DeGea, but it was a baffling team selection from Van Gaal, Manchester United tonight were / and are generally abysmal.

Hence the 'providing you can carry him' part of my post. There will be games like this where he'll be missing for large parts but will pop up with the goals that decide the game. My concern with Origi for example is he's the opposite of Sturridge, his contributes much more and helps the team play better but do you fancy him to be clinical in front of goal?

I'm certain Klopp's had this very debate with himself prior to the game today and gone with Sturridge because he knew the importance of that 1 goal today. It's not perfect and ideally we'd have an Origi type with the goalscoring threat but right now it's a horses for courses. Today was a close call between the 2 and he's gone with Sturridge.

Scholes is having a mental breakdown live on air. Grilling United for letting Welbeck go :o

Edit: Not debating he's a great finisher but Klopp will be looking at the bigger picture. £20 million pound (if you believe the reports about Napoli) sounds like a good deal for a square peg in a round hole and with Benteke almost certainly going we could end up we a decent amount of money to buy a striker more suited to Klopp's style of play.

Your whole team is **** apart from a ridiculously good keeper who kept you in the game again :p

Is your whole team ****? Have you improved since you got a decent manager in? Have you replaced your whole squad since Rogers left? Our squad is decent. Its not top class but with a good manager we would easily be top 4 and probably competing for the title in this weird season.

Sakho was more than just decent. He won everything that went into our box either in the air or on the ground.

As for our defence on the whole. It's been **** for years but the last few months we've defended very well and our defensive record has proven that - we've only conceded 3 in our last 8 games. Ironically it was our most reliable defender today that struggled - I think that was Clyne's first bad game for us since he signed. Milner, Lovren and Sakho were very good though.

I've said before that I can't see Sturridge leaving. I can't see how he can leave. Who's going to pay us enough to persuade us to sell him and be able to pay his wages? Can't see Napoli doing it.

And I agree he's not perfect for Klopp but right now and unless we can buy a genuine quality striker that is then he's got a huge part to play for us. As I said, he's hugely important against the smaller sides when we're not going to be playing a pressing, counter attacking game.

Not the whole team but a better keeper and left back would make a huge improvement to our team, Matip will hopefully be an improvement on our current CBs, Lucas is our best DM but virtually RIP and Lallana is too hit and miss. Add a striker who actually stays fit and scores and we're looking at 5/6 places in the team that can improve us.

I wouldn't like to see him leave but it's got to be consideration in the summer for his injury problems alone.
