UEFA Champions League/Europa League 15/16/17 March *** Spoilers ***

Sakho was more than just decent. He won everything that went into our box either in the air or on the ground.

As for our defence on the whole. It's been **** for years but the last few months we've defended very well and our defensive record has proven that - we've only conceded 3 in our last 8 games. Ironically it was our most reliable defender today that struggled - I think that was Clyne's first bad game for us since he signed. Milner, Lovren and Sakho were very good though.

We had quite a few chances and most of the stuff Sakho was clearing was when he was uncontested. He was good but nothing special. We could have score 3-4 more if we could finish and so could you.

Not the whole team but a better keeper and left back would make a huge improvement to our team, Matip will hopefully be an improvement on our current CBs, Lucas is our best DM but virtually RIP and Lallana is too hit and miss. Add a striker who actually stays fit and scores and we're looking at 5/6 places in the team that can improve us.

My point is that managers make a huge difference. You have one of the best managers about and we have one of the worst. Its actually unbelievable how he is making a hash of every aspect of managing us. Poor team choice, poor subs, poor tactics and no motivation. We need 3-4 players in the summer but the biggest thing we need is a good manager.

How many clear chances did you have? Lingard header in the first half where Mignolet decides to come half way then stop when he should have just caught the ball and the Mata chance that was a result of pin ball from a corner?

As much as you were better than you were at Anfield, Mignolet hardly made a save.

edit: if you're not watching, BT are doing a little compilation on Sakho. He made 2 great tackles inside the area on top of all the clearances and interceptions.

Klopp is slowly improving our players and making them all feel important. The defense is far better, and individuals are starting to produce more and look like they are gelling as a team.

Tonight we deserved it, Mignot had one save to make iirc and we hit the woodwork and produced a number of great saves from Utd's best player over the two legs and that was without having to step up the gears!

I don't think there is a team in the competition that stand out as total favourites, so with a bit of luck we can defo keep going and put in a good challenge for this.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: "It is very disappointing. We could have the chance, that is the feeling in the dressing room. We have created enough chances to win and we know that when you attack in this way that Liverpool has counter chances. The way that we conceded that goal, at half-time they were all so disappointed. If we don't concede that goal I think it was possible.

"They gave everything. More than everything. I am pleased that the fans saw that and gave them applause at the end.

"In the second half we had chances. Fellaini with his head and his foot. But you have to score three goals and that is not too easy.

"Liverpool had a free week but we had to play West Ham United. We also needed a little bit of luck but if you say that as a manager it is not good."

Doesn't say anything particularly stupid this week, but then again he doesn't really say anything so...

Sevilla and Dortmund are the two teams to avoid and Shakhtar wouldn't be the easiest of ties either. Fancy our chances against the rest.

If our defense can keep playing to the level they are atm we have the players up top that can cause teams problems. Origi is proving to be a decent forward, he has a confidence and drive that is a great option from the bench whilst Studger is a bit hit and miss and isn't hitting form.

Dortmund look really good and would be the team to avoid in the draw, but I also think a lot of teams will be hoping they don't get us.

Dortmund are the best side in the competition. While you wouldn't choose to play Sevilla, if we perform to our best then we beat them.

People seem to forget Spurs are on a great run of form at the moment and got completely destroyed. This is the same team that have the highest goal difference in the league and are one of the favourites for the title. Liverpool have beaten one of the worst United teams in the past quarter century and suddenly you fancy your chances. As much as I would love to see England do well in Europe we are miles behind other big European teams (As Arsenal have also shown).

Did I not say Dortmund were the best side in the competition?

And lets put things in perspective. Spurs have been a very consistent side (relative to the inconsistency the big sides have shown) in the PL but they're no world beaters and they played weakened sides vs Dortmund. Dortmund aren't invincible.

If every side left in the competition perform to their best then Dortmund win it but I'd fancy us against Sevilla and the others. Whether we perform at our best is another matter though.

as opposed to fans who got English teams banned from european competition

Yep a portion of our fans are part of the reason why 39 people were killed. Fortunately that doesn't seem to happen in the 30 years since and the scum in our fan base has dwindled and isn't in the thousands.

None of that really changes the fact I don't want to listen to Hillsborough or Heysel chants for 90 minutes, particularly at Anfield

Season has been a write-off since November really.

It will continue to be a write off until they can get someone that can build, consolidate and head in the right direction. Atm you get different performances because LVG is still trying to work out what he trying to do and experiment even after all this time.

Simply isnt good enough with the amount of money they spent. With the amount of money the players get they have to produce. Yet just the other day was it Linguard and Rashford that blocked the road to the training ground with their really expensive motors forcing traffic to go round them as they stood on the side chatting. If they act like super rich superstars then the better B****y well produce. Simple as that.

On a side note, Fellaini? How the **** does he get away with it every single game? It's ridiculous.

It just not Fellani fault but LVG for selecting him. What amazes me is how he gets picked for the team when he puts in performances like that. He doesnt contribute to anything for Man U and if we are really blunt. He hacks because he cant compete or do anything else. Watch him next time, he gets passed the ball, he doesnt even try to create or do anything, He just passes to another player. He doesnt want it. How can you be a footballer when you dont want the ball??

Side note Paul Ince doesnt know w*f he talking about either. He just jumping on the band wagon.

Amazed that Liverpool have been charged with illicit chants and United havent, when the sick United chants could be heard clearly on the television broadcast during both games.
