***UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 2***

I'd have taken a draw so great result, and I think we actually had the two best chances on the night (Berb's miss being the other one).

I'd have most definitely taken a draw too, and I'm thrilled with the win, but you'd have to say their missed open goal from 6 yards out was probably one of the best chances :p

Edit/ Bah, slow :(

Can't see us getting in a DM, more likely a striker though rumours are that 'Arry wants Pienaar.

No thanks. Lol. Jack Rodwell would do.

Think we do need a forward to be fair, but going to VDV's form, and when Defoe is back, we may be able to get away with 4-4-1-1 with VDV behind Defoe,as that seemed quite effective with VDV and Crouch.

Really do need a replacement for Keane (no form since leaving for Liverpool) and Pav (Can't seem to score many from open play). Crouch will do for a last resort hoof-fest if we are desperate.

very flukey goal utd have been dreadful still they'll go out in the 1st knockout stage

Oh god you're trolling in the football forum now as well are you :(

Brilliant goal saves a dire performance. Think that and Hernandez hitting the post a moment before were the only chances we created that game. Shows what can happen if you try and win a game eh Fergie? The solo striker system is ****.

Oh and Valencia are dirty *****, only against us does a stamp not get a red or even a yellow. Soldado diving trying to get Rafael sent off (who had a great game), Cesar looking like he's about to punch Macheda.

Meh what he said was no worse than the stuff you come out with!

What do you mean "see what happens when you try and win the game fergie?" did you not see us ridiculously open at Bolton on Sunday?

Fergie got it spot on tonight, a draw would have been a good result but a win is a fantastic result following a good away performance in Europe!

On! On! :D

VDV for MoTM despite the Red?

Bale MOTM for me.

VDV would have been without a doubt had he remembered he was on a yellow. One hell of a buy that.

Crouch also did his job very well, and Pav became brilliant after his first pen.

Modric struggled to shine, but did what he had to well.

Huddlestone had a shocker.

King was calm as always.

Bassong looked out of position at times but King kept him covered.

BAE was his usual mixed self.

Hutton was great. Finally regained his form.

Gomes did well except for a dodgy punch which was fortunate not to lead to a goal.

He was playing for the draw, we created **** all for about 85 mins, in the end it was very fortunate that Hernandez is as good as he is. Valencia could have easily been 2 or 3 up by that point, Soldado's finishing was wasteful, especially that open goal miss.

"good away performance"? Do you have the lowest standards on the planet? Our passing was ridiculously bad and we created nothing. Positives to take were Anderson, Rafael and Ferdinand all coming back and playing very well, finally a clean sheet :)

Agreed. Suppose you're right about Bale seeing as he actually played the 90 lol.
Really pleased for Hutton. Always liked him and i am glad he is showing what he can do now that he has been given the chance.

When Daws is back, i think we will be a lot better at the back.

Not sure about all the criticism of Huddlestone. Yeah it wasn't a MOM performance but he played some Hoddlesque passes to get us out of trouble and onto the offensive several times. Got stronger as the game went on.

VDV hero to zero, stupid red card.

Bale is immense and King is a freak of nature!

Good to see Hutton finally living upto his promise, could yet make a career of it at Spurs. Good to see Gomes back in goal aswell :)

Everyone before the game said they'd take a draw how then is keeping things tight playing on the counter attack and ending up nicking a goal not a good away performance?

Oh I forgot you're one of these idiots who aren't happy unless you're doing a Chelsea scoring 4's and 5's every week

We went away from home without Rooney, Scholes, and Giggs to the team who are top of the Spanish league and won, some people are never happy, I really don't know why I still read the rubbish people like you post

Hudd got caught in posession quite a few times, seemed to shy out of defensive duties in the box, and was lucky not to have been embarrassed by a slack pass back to Gomes. Lucky King was there to clean up.

I don't understand people who are saying Man Utd were dreadful tonight - they pretty much played the perfect 'away tie in europe' tactic.

Sit back, defend, shut them out, and try to attack on the counter. It worked perfectly!

I remember a few years ago they played someone away, and they went all out attack, and got so badly exposed at the back. At that point everyone was saying 'they should have defended more blahblah'.

Spot on, clueless idiots the lot of them!

The problem being we only did 2 of the 3 really.

I knew one good goal would pull the wool over everyone's eyes and people would be labelling it as a great performance :(

He's stilll very young playing his first ever CL game at home against a very good side playing with 5 in midfield on a quick wet pitch.... give the guy a break?!

As he got more used to it all he got better and better.
