***UEFA Champions League/Europa League 2010/11 Matchday 2***

Yeah fairy muff, it's just he just seems to be getting quite a bashing from a lot of Spurs fans atm. He did get a lot better and to be fair he was in with Modric against 3 of them and they also made Modders look a bit ordinary aswell.

Overall a great team performance once we went down to 10 men. We had our best player on the night sent off, they'd just scored and really had their tails up... to stop them scoring qhilst popping in another 2 ourselves has to applauded.

COYS!!

To be honest, VDV made most of our other players look ordinary (even though they may have had a good/great game). He looks a different class at times. Just a shame he lost his cool a bit after his pen and ended up getting silly yellows.

As long as we can get something from our games against Bremen and FC Twente, 2 losses to Inter shouldn't be too damaging (don't want to get my hopes up for those games) :p

I don't know what it is about him - but he always sounds drunk.

.....and I was verrry, verrry drunk.

nah utd were a bit poor. especially when we would do something like, throw the ball out to a wingback, who immediately went under pressure, then sideways pass then back to the keeper who has to make a hurried clearance.

nani free kicks and corners again failing to beat the first man in the pack i noticed.

they gave some superb deliveries but just had no one to touch it in. a bit wasteful. man u other chance was when berbatov ran in on goal in the 2nd and hit the keeper low from the left side. and int he first berbatov took on 2 men and fired a shot just over, top corner from left to right). apart from that we were pretty wasteful with the ball too.

Overall, great result. mediocre performance.

Define poor performance then because the way they played tonight is the same that they have played every away game in Europe for the past 3/4 season

Have they all been poor despite all the wins then?

I feel i must explain something.

A win doesn't mean it's a good performance.

A loss doesn't mean it's a poor performance.

They are not directly linked.

And no they haven't all been poor, can you quote where I said that? Or are you just creating "fachts" again?

Poor performance for me is when we don't play as we are capable of, we are renowned for fast counter attacking displays, tonight we looked incompetent in attack, our passing was poor and often straight to the opposition. Our control was very poor, Park in particular lost the ball multiple times because of poor control. Defensively we were good tonight, but we still only kept a clean sheet because they missed an open goal.

We'll give anyone a game at WHL, don't see why we should resign to losing at home even against the current champs. They have fat Mario in charge now not Jose ;)

ahh park, bless him. he didnt reallly seem to be good enough for a tough game like that. lightweight, bad control. no delivery all match. i mean i know he can run but you need your wingers to produce at least one good opportunity

when you have the inexperience and inconsistency of rafael and nani on one wing, you need the other to be able to deliver at leats some of the time.

I agree with most of your analysis, skippi, apart from...

Huddlestone had a shocker.

I thought that he was our best player when we went down to 10 men. His passing was absolutely sublime and did a good job defensively too.

Hutton was great. Finally regained his form.

He still looks dodgy defensively. Not convinced at all by his positioning.

EDIT: What's with the shallow camera angle on ITV?

Just back from Ibrox :D :D :D

4pts from 2 Games, great performance from the team and in all honesty we should have wrapped it up just after the 2nd half kicked off but I'll take it!

Atmosphere was rocking and close to a sell out, should be for the remaining two games at home and hopefully we can nick another 3 from Valencia in 3 weeks time :D

I will have to watch the match tomorrow - but I personally think Utd did ok, and tonight's result balances out the awful Rangers result a couple of weeks ago. I just hope we dont go back to letting in stupid goals at the weekend against Sunderland (can Rio play two games in a row by any chance?)

Same, but i would like to see some competition for his position as our other midfielders are more attacking.

Are you forgetting Sandro? (if we get past the first group stage I'm guessing he'll be added to the squad in Jan)

Valencia are dirty, hopefully it'll go some way to ending the myth that La Liga has no bad tackles, it's full of them!

I was happy with our performance. Naismith and Bougherra were outstanding as was McCulloch in his holding role.

Limited the Turkish Champions to 1 shot on target and if we had shown a little more composure, we could have went 2 or 3 up.

I`m not gonna get carried away though and in typical Rangers fan tradition, i`ll err on the side of caution. It will take a monumental task to get in to the last 16 and i think realistically 3rd place is where we`ll end up.

Another million trousered from last night is also very welcome.

Oh and one last thing, Premiership and Championship managers please note there is nothing to see in Steven Naismith, not worth scouting or watching, move along please. Thanks. ;)

I have this distinct feeling that Killie felt the same before Rangers came along... :p

Still it's a decent result for Rangers there and hopefully they'll make the group interesting.

Good result for the Spuds...wasnt expecting Twente to roll over like that..shame really as i thought Twente were supposed to be a good side.

Thought Utd were very lucky to walk away with 3 pts...that goal from Hernandez definitely got them out of jail.

I wouldn't say we were really in jail, we were away from home against the most in-form Spanish side, a draw wouldn't have been bad.

Hernandez is awesome! :p
