Fletcher and Carrick simply dont know how to bring a ball forward and eat up space, its pass pass pass and never gaining any territory or applying any pressure, if you pass all the time and take a million touches before you do it like fletcher, even dross like this turkish lot just pick a man, mark up and cut the passes out.
If you carry the ball into space, then someone has to commit to stop you, you create runners as you alter angles, and create space as players commit to close you down.
Neither Carrick or Fletcher do this, Anderson was doing this, and when he picked the ball up and ran with it was the only time we looked threatening going forward.
Of course, playing a 19 year old boy on his own up front with no support meant that we were going to create very little anyway.
