UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7 April *** Spoilers ***

Ah right so we've got to the crux of 'obviously the refs deserve it when arsenal players do it' as long as people know where you're coming from then they can give due weight to your comments.

This is all about a bit that I edited out as I realised it was probably wrong. I dunno where you've got that idea from though, I didn't say that. In that instance the ref definitely deserved criticism and Wenger and Nasri got punished accordingly as it seems they went over the line. Wenger does plan to appeal though and I have a feeling he will win the appeal. But the crux of the point is that Ferguson does go on about the refs more regularly and aggressively than any other manager I can think of, which is why he's constantly in trouble.

Fergie's Statement: ..................................

Everyone else in the World:

"WTF How can he say that"

"WTH is he going on about"

"Eh it won't affect our game anyway!"

"He's talking crap again"

"Hahaha Fergie, you senile old codger"

Ferguson: Jobs a good 'un.

Fergie just basically trolled most of the football world in one statement.

Yep, and you know what most people think of trolls.

Don't expect anything else from SAF these days. And quite why he feels the need to belittle a police officer who was expressing an opinion in that way is beyond me, I'd have thought he's a bigger man than that.

He belittled him because he doesn't know his arse from his elbow, Fergie obviously knows more about a Saturday night out in Wolves than the Chief of Police for Wolverhampton :D

The police officer bit is strange, also how he comments on everybody has an opinion, as if 20 years ago people didn't have opinions and suggesting that it's a bad thing that people have opinions

Also, the police officer was probably wrong, just odd that it got brought up

He didn't say any of that, so it makes no difference, I'm purely referring to what Carlo actually said and what he said will not result in a ban.

Really not that hard to understand fez.

If you feel aggrieved about the ban Fergie got, don't let it cloud you judgement on Carlo's quotes because they are no where near the same.

You are claiming that Ancelotti said something that was sufficiently vague so that you couldn't say that it was directed at the referee of that match. That is rubbish.

He basically said "the referee knew what the right decision was and bottled it" Ferguson basically said the same thing. One was banned one was not.

I don't think either should be banned but the fact is, Fergie has been. The difference is the footballing bodies in charge. Really not that hard to understand is it.

I am saying that both offences were basically the same, and get differing reactions. You seem to think that the two incidents are completely different. Unless you lack the basic understanding of the english language to be able to see what Ancelotti was saying I don't see how you can say that he is not questioning the integrity of the referee.

Well he questioned his courage, pretty much the same thing. Saying he didn't have the courage to give Chelsea a penalty.

I'm sure nothing will be done about the Chelsea players hounding ther ref at the end either, didn't one of them push him?
Rio Ferdinand is the referee now, is he?

John Terry had one word with the ref at full time, as did Ancelotti. The rest of players did nothing. Of course they remonstrated at the time of the penalties not being given, but no team in the world doesn't do that.

To be fair to them, they got on with it despite the terrible decisions from the referee. I don't like most of them, but I'm not one to exaggerate the actions of teams I don't like whilst overlooking it when my team does.

As for Fergie - the day he retires will be a great one for English football. No respect campaign can work while he's still in the game.

If Torres and Drogba hadn't have fallen over at every opportunity they may have been in with a chance of the legitimate penalty claim they had.

Swings and roundabouts.

I don't think it was because of Torres/Drogba diving, I just think that we need a huge shake up of the refs and systems in place as what we have is failing abysmally as they're simply of way too low a standard. If humans can't do it then we need cameras. That penalty was so obvious I bet 99% of people at home knew it, and pretty much all of the stadium knew it too, how can't the ref? Who should be better than us all, as he's a professional, how are they worse?

Agreed but the fact that they were diving all over the place makes it difficult for the referee to see the genuine fouls.

It's time for cameras, we have all been saying it for years but until Blatter is kicked out we won't get them.

I wish you would stop typing a reply and then editing it :/

I'm doing it to annoy you

But you're right, it needs to be technology. Even if it's one or two men at the side of the pitch and they only get one or two quick replays, less than 5 seconds, they might not get every one right, but it will improve drastically, and after all we don't want perfection, just better than what we have would be good

Thats it, you cant have a campaign for respecting officials when they get so many big decisions wrong that can effect a whole season for a team. Chelsea go out to united 1 - 1 at old traffod and thats their season over.

Its like the police force 40-50 years ago. You can't have respect for something which is perceived as doing a poor job. They had to clean that up and restore confidence in its ability to do its job. Thats what needs to happen to refereeing.

With the amount on money at stake, it is quite mad that we rely on one individual to officiate a match with players diving, cheating and committing professional fouls. If they want respect, maybe they need to earn it.

The thing that gets me is why people feel sorry for this police officer, you write a blog criticizing someone for something you have nothing to do with then you better make sure you have your own house in order. Anyone who's ever been out in wolves knows he was talking out of his sodding arse. He got made to look stupid only because he set himself up.

That may be so, but everyone is entitled to an opinion and there is no need for SAF to talk about him in those terms. All he has to say is he doesn't agree with it.

"There is a wee guy, sitting down there in the Midlands, probably never been recognised in his life, managed to elevate himself to whatever it is in the police force."

I'd suggest this police officer's role is more important than SAF's so why talk down to him like that?
