UEFA Champions League/Europa League 5/6/7/March *** Spoilers ***

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel said the penalty should not have been given because Dalot's shot was not on target.

"From my point of view I watched Dalot take the shot. I saw the ball flying straight from his foot and for me it was clear it was going way over the bar," said Tuchel.

"There are many things to discuss before taking the decision and I think it's a 50-50 decision. What makes it super hard is I had the clear feeling the shot was not on target, and to get rewarded with a penalty, there is no logic."

Haha why does he mention it going on target? Idiot.

It's incredibly easy to jump without your arm out. I'm so fed up with Rio going "but it's natural"... so what, you train every single day to do things that aren't natural. There is no human instinct to slide tackle, or kick a football, they are trained. It's exceptionally easy to train yourself to jump with your arms in, you do that even for a couple days making sure you do it and it becomes natural. Ramos is someone who very obviously trained himself to do it because for years 99% of the time he jumps or goes in to block a shot you seem him cross his arms behind his back.

It's not remotely close to impossible to not jump like that, it's so painfully easy it's embarrassing for that to be used as an excuse. More over he raised his arm and extended it before he jumped.
His arm wasnt out though? he had his arm down maybe 10cm off the side of his body.

Are you expecting him to jump like Tom Daley? :)

Again, firstly he put his arm out before jumping, intentionally, to make himself bigger. THen he left it out while jumping and yes, you can physically jump with your arms by your side. That's like saying what, you expect me to launch myself at the ball while taking into account the opposition and if my action is dangerous... yeah, I do. Just like when you take a shot in pool I expect you to not move other balls and take care to avoid them. You can't use your hands or arms in football, if you're making an effort to jump in front of the ball then yes, keep your arms out of the way because if you don't and it hits your arms you've broken the rules.

What is so difficult about keeping your arms by your side? When people ask this utterly ridiculous question I honestly wonder how difficult people think jumping without using their arms is. It's harder to achieve the same height... so what, he was jumping to block a shot, not compete in the high jump. There is no need, no requirement and no reason to jump with your arms out when you're trying to block a shot.

When you jump you always raise your arms to get a boost jump :)

He then put his arm down straight after 10cm away from his side but arms facing down.

That is why imo it was harsh penalty

Low level bait.

You’re obviously just a student of the game and don’t actually play it .

:p

Really don't think it's a penalty, he's actually bringing his arm closer to his body before the ball hits it. The rules are changing from next season aren't they? Something to do with arms being allowed by your side and striking them is okay?

I'm not going to argue too much, I'm pleased to see that bunch of cretins knocked out :D

It’s so much better if you think PSG have been ‘wronged’ and it wasn’t a pen though, rancid cheats/club/owners

As a neutral, I would say its harsh. Without VAR and away from home you are not getting the decision. Still glad UTD went through.

It did remind me of an incident at Stamford Bridge a few years ago. ManU fans will have to help me here.
Carrick handballed and Ballack scored the pen. Carrick did not turn his back, but I remember thinking it was harsh at the time.
The kind of decision you only get at home.

Really don't think that's the case. You could argue that nearly every decision the ref doesn't see well enough to give a certain decision. I think what you've quoted simply does refer to incidents that have been completely missed by the officials. The corner had been given by all accounts and with the use of VAR the decision has been overturned.

Yeah, the reports this morning claim that a decision was made and then questioned - although I didn't see the ref indicate anything before the VAR on my (slightly rubbish) stream.
I dunno then. But I'm happy either way. :)

Whatever people thought of the decision at the end PSG were fielding a very strong team of players of which 5 were rested from the weekend and were at home. Our team was threadbare to say the best. Solskjaer as a manager made the correct decision of changing the formation with Bailly as everything for PSG was coming down that left and if unchanged another goal was inevitable. Tuchel had no counter for this and for all the ball PSG had they couldn't do anything with it really.

My stand out player would have to be Luke Shaw. His pace and tracking back was exceptional. Easily one of the best left backs in Europe at the moment. Both Fred and Mctominay were fantastic as well as it was a big ask for them. If anything Mctominay was bullying the PSG players in the middle and at the age of 22 there is still a lot more to come.

5 home grown players played last night in a champions league knockout round. Not many teams can say that and MUFC fans should be proud of that fact.

Here's to hoping both City and Liverpool can get good results next week and we have 4 English teams in the last 8.
