UEFA Champions League/Europa League 8/9/10 March *** Spoilers ***

Agree totally with Van Persie.... joke of a referee

Yep I agree, joke of a ref, should have sent RVP off in the first half, along with Kos and Wilshire and Barca should have had a pen. Shocking performance from the ref.

Who said Alves was over rated? Great game from him today bombed forwards all match behind the defense time and time again kept Nasri quiet all game, some brilliant tackles.

I thought his movement and timing was excellent but his decision making when he got in behind was a little poor.

His delivery was rather **** today though tbh. Had Barca's final ball or shot been better it could have been a cricket score.

The only thing funny in this thread is the people saying Arsenal were awful. You do realise who they played? When Barca play well, they make every team they play against look pathetic. There isn't much anyone can do about it, they are simply amazing, they are much better at closing teams down than they are given credit for, as well.

It's been such a mixed night / day for me today.

Two members of my family lost in the space of a week, my football team lose at the weekend and an awful performance and win tonight and I got to see one of the best football teams in the World brush one of the best English teams aside.

Arsenal were dominated, Arsenal were beaten by a much better side.

I don't think him on or off the pitch made any difference.

(shock horror that I agree with Souness)

Of course it made a difference. Arsenal were dominated for the full ninety minutes but right after the sending off that little bit extra space opened up, they had no out ball and Barca really started to tear them apart. They had a chance of holding on or at least nicking another goal with 11 men. With 10 the game was as good as dead.

Good at getting in positions going forward, final ball/decision making was woeful and enjoyable to watch.

Arsenal were made to look like kids tonight.

Arsenal are a good side, it says a lot about how good Barca are, even when they're not playing well.

I'll agree with that but Arsenal were very very wasteful still. I think it was a combination of a fantastic attacking team against a good defending team who happened to have a **** attack :p

This game could have been a lot lot worse for Arsenal!!

I wish people would stop fingering themselves over Barcelona. I think the occasion got to us, a think an older and more experienced team, perhaps a team with a few trophys behind it would have made Barcelona work a lot harder, and could easily have nicked it. Even Chelsea, in the poor vein of form they have been in would have put up a much better fight than we did tonight.

Hardly, he shud have had a booking for the tackle but the two he got were a farce. Sure we were awful but winning until that card

You can't state what would have happened if the red card didn't happen. Awful decision, and another game is ruined by the ref. :(

Wrong! RVP should have been sent off during the first half to be fair, for his foul against Alves. He got away with it then but for his stupidity he got second yellow - not a red card.

Fabregas has supposedly told Spanish TV that he played despite not being fit and tweaked his hamstring in the first 15 mins. If true, DM's going to have a field day ;)

I'm an Arsenal fan, and I'm probably going to be overly harsh on Arsenal here, but we were woeful, utterly awful.

Barcelona are good, they are a great footballing side, they play the beautiful game, but they are nowhere near as good as we made them look tonight. We played like scared rabbits, we didnt get our passing game going at all, all our 'big players' were completely absent.

I never expected a result in the Nou Camp, however I didnt expect such a horrid capituatlion either. Credit to Barcelona, the better team won and I wish them sucess.

I'm not going to say that the red card changed the game, but it doesnt detract from the fact that it was a woeful decision.

Exactly how I feel. Everything good about the first leg was completely absent from the performance tonight, they were possibly worse than last year, which is saying something.

Like Chelsea did last time they played Barca?

What part of what you said there addresses the fact that the sending off made a difference? I agree and even said that they were totally dominated. Nonetheless they were in the tie until the sending off.

At half time they said what would Benetiz say to his team

What would you say? They could be set up perfectly but if you are a goal behind and don't have the ball how would go about this?

For all Barca's good points and some simply stunning football , to me theres always an undercurrent of nastiness.

The diving and rolling about, surrounding the ref wanting opposition players booked , and sometimes cynical fouling.

Its just so not needed especially by them.

I disagree. Arsenal had no chances and did nothing before the sending off, and it was the same after.

Hell, Barca even scored a goal for Arsenal to help them :p
