UEFA Champions League/Europa League 8/9/10 March *** Spoilers ***

You raise your arms in anger against a players face like that of course it should be a red, he lashed out in frustration because he's a **** He's done it before.

ohh ok then Abidal should be off clearly with his WWE Undertaker Chokehold on Van Persie then....

The defender was right up in VP face. If you look at the replay Vp is turned away from the defender he cant see him...hes basically protecting himself. He didnt lash out at all.

I never said it should be a red, but a second yellow yes quite clearly.

2nd yellow for what? VP first yellow was for the hand slap 2nd yellow was for bugger all......

You are saying that the second yellow is right?

I disagree. Arsenal had no chances and did nothing before the sending off, and it was the same after.

Hell, Barca even scored a goal for Arsenal to help them :p

You're wrong then. An idiot could see that the sending off made a difference. It made Arsenal's chances go from slim to none.

What did Arsenal do with 11 men before the sending off? Nothing. Exactly the same as the second half.

They won a corner :p

Obviously the red card did make it extra hard for Arsenal and it probably was a harsh red but Arsenal fans can't complain about officials after the amount of decisions that went in their favour over the 2 legs.

Both Song and Kos should have gone in the first leg, a pen to Barca (and 1 in the 2nd leg) and Messi's goal in the first leg was wrongly ruled out.

Perhaps I need to explain this really slowly as if to a simple person.

It is easier to play football (are you still with me?) with 11 people (can you count that high?) than with 10 (if you got to 11 you subtract 1).

They were spanked but they were ahead in the tie with 11 and behind with 10. Their chances off pulling of a backs to wall job, or even nicking a goal, were far higher with 11 men.

How is it not? Game is stopped - player continues to play with the ball.
By all rules this is a yellow card - 1st, 2nd, 2345th - it does not matter. Is a yellow card.

Which is a stupid rule. The player isn't always going to hear the whistle in a stadium with 90,000 singing/shouting people.

Not that I am complaining about the red, as Kos was lucky to stay on. Arsenal were outclassed today, they had a big dose of their own medicine today. Wenger (and the players) need to learn from it and improve, not complain.

Well the plus side for Barcelona is Pique and Puyol will be back for later stages.

Did anyone watch the Shaktar game? They seemed to blitz past Roma and never lost at home in Europe?

Watching ESPN Press Pass earlier Hislop had them as his outside favourites

As other have said, it's not their defense that has to improve but their finishing. Against a better side they could have gone out today.

You having a laugh?

Almunia made some brilliant saves against another team barca could have ended up getting 6 or 7 tonight

So many loser arsenal haters, pathetic. That ref changed the game, we probably had a game plan after half time but that went to the drain when RvP get's sent of for someting as ridiculous as that.

Barca are a bunch of technically gifted players but classless and spineless cowards. They have no class and no character.

Against another team they wouldn't have had all those chances maybe? He only had to make those saves and the cb's only had to make all those tackles because they weren't being protected properly. As it was they did make those tackles and Barca's profligacy could have cost them if they'd played a team that had actually gone at them in the last 10 minutes.

You dont understand. In the 1st leg Barcelona also dominated Arsenal but Arsenal's counterattacking was devastating. In that game Arsenal for me edged it as the better side (even though barca dominated possession)

Football is not 100% about possession. Its also about creating chances and good attacking play that gets the ball in the net. A lot of the time Barcelona pass it around too much and are a bit lethargic. Certainly in the first leg they were like that. Fair enough tonight they were better their attacking onslaught was brutal for Arsenal BUT with 11 players if you defend well and counterattack very quickly then you can win. This is why i agree with Wenger that at 1-1 Arsenal still had a reasonable chance to get through if they had stayed at 11 v 11.

A lot of you ppl are going on about the other Arsenal tackles e.g. Wilshere studs up etc deserving red.Rubbish.... if you look at the incident Wilshere connects with the ball first and his follow through connects a little bit with the player...deserving of a yellow but no not a red.

There was no tackle in the game that genuinely deserved a red. (certainly nothing AT ALL like the Liverpool v Man Utd game haha) The ref's job is to manage the game not dictate who is going to win...

I'm making the point Arsenal did NOTHING with 11 men :p

It's obvious that a game becomes harder with 10 men, but given all the refereeing decisions that went Arsenal's way over the two legs, I don't see how Arsenal fans can complain.

Arsenal were out played in every area of the pitch, completely dominated by the best side in the World, and arguably one of the best sides of all time if not the best club side of all time.

The ref ruined a perfectly good game for me, despite Barcelona's dominance they didn't create that many clear cut chances until they had the man advantage.

I'll agree with this, I was risking sounding like an Arsenal fan :p

2 - Arsenal made two touches in the opposition goal area tonight; compared to a total of 47 by Barcelona. Contrasts.

Sorry for being a human RSS feed but some of these just make me laugh!
