UEFA Champions League/Europa League 8/9/10 March *** Spoilers ***

Just wondering where you draw the line. You seemed fine with diving last week after all.

Shami, I know you're not best pleased after the result so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. As I said, you're not stupid but you're comments on this are.

I've been very clear on this diving situation for years and regularly made the point on here regardless of who is involved. Benteke last week was fouled, there's no 2 ways about it in my mind. The more I watch the replay of it, it's clearer and clearer. His standing leg gets clipped and you can clearly see his ankle half role. Whether he could have stayed up or not, I could not give a **** and I would and have said the same about Rooney in the same instance. He was tripped, he was impeded, it's a foul but if he stays up the ref 100% does not award it - imo he's 100% within his rights to go down in that situation.

Now if a player out and out dives as Coutinho did today or they kick the opposition player like Owen said on commentary that Mata could/should have done then they should be booked.

minging team, minging performance. no other words for it. LVG seems to have lost the plot - fellaini is a clown who adds nothing to the team. he would like to add muscle in the centre of the park but has neither the skill nor the brains to do so

I wonder why they have that atmosphere and you don't you ****ing clown.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal: "I have to say that Liverpool created an atmosphere that was fantastic. They played very good in the first half and we could not cope with their pressure. David de Gea was fantastic. But we had a cheap penalty and in the second half we changed the shape. We had much more contribution to the game but we didn't create enough.

"They scored another cheap goal, he was offside, and that is difficult. Losing 2-0 is a difficult result for us but we have to create an atmosphere like that next week.

"Liverpool deserved it. I haven't seen [the incident with Marouane Fellaini] but I have to say that Fellaini was one of the best players on the pitch."

I know everybody hates Fellaini but I can honestly say I hope he doesn't play in the 2nd leg. Fellaini is the only Utd player that scares me. You can say what you want about how **** he is and how dirty he is but he's been 1 of Utd's most effective players under LVG. Now you can say that's quite damning for Utd but without him Utd have looked toothless a lot of times - hitting it long to Fellaini or getting crosses into the box have been Utd's more reliable form of attack in 2 years.

This is true and it's also tragic.

Firmino, in the last several weeks, is beginning to look like the player he is supposed to be

It's a remarkable turnaround. Apart from maybe 2 performances he didn't even look like a footballer early in the season. His general performance were dreadful but he still chipped in with the odd moment within a match. Over the last few months he's been fantastic though and has been getting better and better.

All Firmino needed was time to settle, different country, different team it can be a bit daunting for some im just glad he settled down quickly. He will be the one to watch next season. If we can get more quality in the team we should look good

Easy to say with hindsight but he didn't even look like a footballer. There's still times now where it looks like the pace of the game is a surprise to him but he couldn't control anything and was misplacing so many simple passes.

Agree about next season. He's got a bit of Lampard about him - not quite the same position but has that uncanny habit of being in the right place at the right time.

Before Christmas he looked like his brain and body were disconnected and I was positive he wouldn't last more than a season but he's turned it around in spectacular fashion. Perhaps it was just a case of Firmino being a level above the other players in terms of movement and passing and it's taken Klopp a while to get the other players up to his level.

Shame Lallana hasn't managed the same level of consistency in the time he's been here because he's got all the talent in the world.

effective player? Trolling right? He's crap at everything. How many balls in the air did he win tonight? One? He got beaten by Joe Allen at one point!

And wow, LvG praises Liverpool's fans and thinks Fellaini was our best player, he's just an idiot pure and simple. How is he not gone yet.

I said they should persevere/thought he'd come good. Also said Cech would get the golden gloves, when you weren't so sure on him... which was looking a good shout until the injury. Clearly I know the score re: football ;).

I wasn't blown away by the signing and thought people were going OTT with just how big a signing it was and how big a difference it would make. There were comments like Arsenal would concede 20% less goals with him in the side. So far this season Arsenal have conceded 1.03 goals per game compared to 0.95 goals per game last season.

Now obviously that doesn't tell you the whole story and there's other factors that would have effected those stats but I think it's fair to say he's not made a meaningful difference like many thought.

Everything is relative. You created nothing of note from Martial, Mata, Depay etc all game. Fellaini gets pushed forward for 15 minutes towards the end of the game, 1 ball gets swung in and he heads just wide.

I didn't say he was effective, but more effective than most of your attacking players. And like I said, that's more damning of Utd's general performances than praise for Fellaini.
