UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [4th - 6th November 2014]

Kolo meme's apparently all over twitter at the moment. Everyone saying he had James/Ronaldo in his pocket. Which to a degree is true, he was actually excellent with some really crucial interceptions and clearances. Sure not brilliant on the goal but not bad, he got done by a pretty fantastic ball into the box.

Marcelo is like a different player this season. Improved a bit last season but this season, Ancelloti has done something, or maybe just the mauling in Brazil has made him step up his game. Then again much like Ronaldo is scoring more because he's playing more like a striker due to his injury, less Ronaldo on the wing means more responsibility down the left wing for Marcelo. His crossing has improved as has his dribbling and decision making.

I'd kill for Toure back at Arsenal. Wenger forced him out with all kinds of nonsense, much like Gallas they were outspoken defenders in the dressing room who had well, an attitude that didn't gel with the team Wenger grew, he and Gallas were winners, Wenger wanted people who didn't question him. He's the kind of player with the kind of attitude we need. During his time at Arsenal he stepped up in the big games, like most defenders he'd always look better after a run of games but be inconsistent and make errors when barely used.
 
Good performance last night, you know we've done well when 'neutrals' come away and said Madrid were crap, used to happen when we were in Europe with Rafa all the time.

Lucas and Toure should be the 1st names on the team sheet for Saturday so you just know Lovren and Gerrard will start. Will Lucas even make the bench though that is the question.

lol, you know a team has done poorly when you complain about other people rather than talking about the game itself.

Did well, Ronaldo was visibly no where near his best and has a known hamstring and knee issue that he has struggled to play multiple games a week with for 8+ months which also ruined his world cup. Everyone knows this but to make Liverpool fans feel better we should ignore that he played no where near his best because of injury?

You had one shot on target to their 9, 2 shots off target, 1 corner I think, 40% possession against a team that isn't known for their possession football at all.

Real weren't even remotely close to their best and it was MUCH closer to being 5-0 than 1-1. Real missed multiple chances, your keeper made multiple great saves and Real messed up(or were fouled like Bale) in multiple other counter attacks. Liverpool really had no significant chances, no great counters, no 10 "what if" situations in the game where a bit of luck could have seen them score 5 more goals.

Liverpool were better defensively than normal but absolutely awful going forwards.

Is the EPL more important than European Glory?

Is the money you make getting to the Champions league more important than the competition itself?

The big teams have already made a mockery of both the League and FA Cup and now Liverpool rest players for a glamour tie against RM because they play Chelsea for the 1000th time on Saturday?

What happened to respect for their support, for the 1000s that spend their hard cash travelling to Madrid ? :mad:

The game plan was a tried and tested one for European away games. We played deep and compact, looking to keep the score down whilst breaking where we could, then tried to nick a result towards the end of the game by bringing on impact subs in the form of Gerrard, Sterling and Coutinho. Allen, Can and Lucas started because they were far more suited to the defensive job that needed to be done for the first two thirds of the game.

And that is why he is the manager of a top football club and you are not.

I was doing my bets today and said ah City should take care of CSKA at home no problem.

Lucky I left them out of my accumulator because I said to myself they are quite bad in Europe and u never know with City lol.
