UEFA Champions League Final Liverpool v Real Madrid ** spoilers ** [Saturday 28th May 2022]

Youre honestly telling me that was his intention? To knee the ball?
What else was he doing, going on holiday in the box? He's come back to win the ball and if he wins it without the deflection it will be going in a forward direction towards goal regardless. They got this wrong, but I think the issue is the rule. It hit what? 3/4 Liverpool players before coming back to Benzema? That's a defensive **** up, not offside.

Sorry but what? There was another Liverpool player way ahead of bemzema?

Your telling me that it has to be two players ahead of the furthers attacker for it to not be offside?
People are used to it being the goalie +1 for offside.
When the goalie is up pitch then it’s two outfield players.

Never seen it before and I've watched a lot of footy. Doesn't make any sense to me, Real never played a forward ball in that scramble.
Yes they did play a forward ball, unlike a defender it doesn't have to be a deliberate action. Whether you like the rule or not, that is the rule.

As for never seeing it before, I can think of one fairly high profile incident in a Liverpool Spurs game where Spurs got a pen - there was some confusion over whether Lovren had made a deliberate action to play Kane onside and Sky's cameras picked up Jon Moss trying to get help from TV cameras (pre var) then admitting he had no idea what happened.

Yes, he’s gone in to win the ball, or he’d not have gone in!
Riiiight so he definitely meant to knee the ball and it definitely isnt a deflection.

So if Henderson smacks a shot, it hits someone whos sticking a leg out to block it and it "deflects" off him and goes in it isnt a deflection?

I’m only kidding, lol. But if it’s so clear cut why did it take them so long to make a decision during the var check.

Waiting for angles I assume. That fact that something takes that long suggests you go with the on field decision anyway.

Need Diaz and Salah to wake up in the second half, not sure our options off the bench will be as dangerous as Real’s.

The rule’s been explained to the pundits but they’re all so brain dead they’re still arguing Real will feel hard done by.

If the ball had gone out, it’d have been a “good clearance “ and you know it.
