We are just not good enough though. In order to mount a challenge we would need everyone at their absolute best and only Gerrard/Cole were (arguably).

Young was a disappointment, Rooney never got going, Parker is nothing special and can't have done much more, the list goes on.

Well I think they have overachieved by everyone's pre-tournament standards. Managed to finish ahead of France and as expected never was going to beat a decent side in the QFs.
 
Does England losing a game of Football actually upset people. People are genuinely angry. Its humorous how wet people are over a little game.

Better team one, grats Italy!

Against Germany, we would either lose in the 90 minutes OR it would go to penalties and then we lose.
Either way, we would lose.

Maybe Italy could give the Germans a run for their money.
 
Don't really feel disappointed. England were outclassed but when we went 2-1 up on pens I thought we might do it. Happy to have got this far really. We've shown good signs but it's clear England have a long way to go.

Disagree massively.

This crop of players has shown how poor the strength in depth is for England. Nothing to call on to mix it up in centre midfield, Walcott for his pace is not the brightest of footballers and AOC (IMHO) just doesn't have the experience yet to cut it in games like this.

Because we have no real world class players, regardless what the media and idiots in this country think. With England it's just hype hype hype but **** all substance. We're good enough to scrape through a group stage, but when it comes to knockout stages, the other teams pray to get England first.
 
England need a manager like Wenger or Pep. they would although need 2-4 years to build a complete new english team from the ground up who will be taught how to play football properly with flair and passion.

Even if we diddnt get Roy and got Wenger, Pep or Morinho instead, it is not enough time to teach these players to play proper barca style football. I dont know if Roy is the right man to do it.

Can Roy now get rid of Rooney. terry and gerrard and stick to his guns with the youngsers and actually build a team around walcott, Ox, Wilshere, Henderson and TEACH them how to play possesion football?

Does Roy have the balls to do that?
