UEFA Euro 2012 - The Final - ** spoilers **

This Spain team are to good. That Jordi Alba probably tripled his value, what an outstanding tournament he had.

You'd have to brave to write them off the World Cup 2014.

Alba just went to Barca for 14m Euros :(

Good job Barca signed him up before hand!

It will be interesting to see how this Spain team develops for the WC. They will want to I imagine start using Thiago, Martinez and Muniain etc more so will be interesting to see who drops out.

That is the worrying thing about Spain really is that a bunch of those players have easily got another tournament in them maybe 2 and they just churn out quality players.

It's not just Spain, I found the whole thing dull. A severe lack of hype and build up prior to the tournament and complete lack of atmosphere at the grounds and in the main dull games of low standard football.

Champions league football has moved things on to such a level I find these tournies a bit flat now. The world cup is a bit better because it's a bigger build up and more games.

I thought it was a great tournament, much better than the last few world cups, not quite as good as 2008, although that was spectacular

Iniesta has been named player of the tournament.

He was good as always but I'm not sure if he impressed me the most.

They were flummoxed by Chile in 2010 (dat 3-3-1-3 formation! Bielsa <3) and pretty much had Torres' classic swan dive to beat them and they weren't even the best latin American side (of which weren't like half the quarter finalists from there?). I'm pretty sure a South American side is going to win in Rio in 2014.

People were saying the same thing about France 12 years ago...

Brilliant Final, brilliant end to a fantastic competition :)

Very much enjoyed that.

Despite the absolutely terrible commentary from Lawro.

As Lawro has got older he has got more miserable and more of a cynic. He got on my nerves last night.

Have to admit Spain were a bit more direct last night and as a result were more entertaining. However they still seem to pass up good opportunities to test the defence in favour of playing a backwards pass and keeping possession. Only Spain would go from the goal line edge of the 18 yard box and slowly back to the half way line rather than put a ball in the box.

:/

I thought he was almost completely ineffective. Xavi and Fabregas were much better. In fact, so was Xabi Alonso.

Fabregas got MotM in the final didn't he?

hope arsenal can emulate that style of football next season. Wenger is the right man to do so

For us to play successfully this way we'd need multiple players capable of sharing creative duties.. which we don't (look at how un-Arsenal-like we played last season without Fabregas). We'd also need every player to make the effort to press to get the ball back, which also never happens (and if only a few players are pressing it's pointless).

I'd like to see Marcelo Bielsa in when Wenger calls it a day. Might get the nice football and results that way.

GOL GOL GOL GOL GOL GOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

David Silva and Spain with boring, pathetic, predictable football.

thats just a bitter England supporter talking. If it was so predicatable and boring whay hasn't a side come up with a plan for stopping them. Its not like they haven't been playing this style for 6 + years or anything is it.........

Well done to Spain, absolutely fabulous entertaining football - but wish they hadbeen able to play more like that throughout the tournement.

I missed the first 15 minutes or so, but saw Silva's goal with Fab's great cut back, but Alba's goal was just sublime - that guy must be worth £20m + already because of his age and the outrageous amount of skill and judgement he already has. Barca are going to become even more sickening with him in their ranks.

Turned off when Italy were seemingly about to go down to 9 men after Motta had gone off injured and at least one other player seemed to be heavily limping, so while (from the replays) Spain scored some lovely goals after that the differences between the teams was a little exaggerated imo by the final score

I dont know whats more scary, how far ahead of everyone else (Euro wise at least) that current Spain team is, how many years majority of that team can continue together for, or the backup players that Spain have available if one or two (or 7+ even lol) are injured.

How is it that people can so wildly miss blatant sarcasm?

It's his consistency that does it. Doesn't score many goals or get many assists but he gets key pass after key pass and is involved in everything Spain do going forward.

Three MotM awards in this tournament and 3 during the World Cup and MotM in both finals speaks volumes considering the quality of the team he plays in. As far as I'm concerned he's the best of the rest after Messi and Ronaldo and by quite a long way.

I hope Spain don't go on to dominate for the next 10 years - not just because it would get boring, but because I kinda want this current team to dissolve and be remembered as they are now...isolated in history, as it were. Like they arrived, set the bar stupidly high, then vanished and said "beat that!". I don't want to see them fall from grace....slowly become just "quite good" again, which is inevitable. They should all retire from international football now :)
