UEFA Euro 2016 Group B ** spoilers** (England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales)

Agree. No one seems to enjoy [watching England try to play] football anymore.

Fixed :p

And really, it's not hard to see why. Watching England is an exercise in frustration.

Their biggest problem, as I see it, is this. They have three modes of play.

1. Aimless balls from back to front, 90% unsuccessful.
2. Give to speedy players to run, headless chicken style, up the pitch until they lose the ball.
3. Ponderous, slow, side-to-side and backwards passing. So unimaginative that the opposition knows every pass they'll make, because it's always the easiest, lowest risk, least productive pass. Runs are ignored in favour of going backwards. Players are terrified of the balls. We're ***** if the ball is in the air, too. England players must be taught that just getting your head on it is all that's required.

Engerland lack creativity, vision, flair. They are predictable, obvious, slow, boring, and for all their possession they give the ball away continually every 2nd pass.

And that's why (among other reasons) they are *****, and Wales are #1 in the group.

Unless I'm wrong, our next opponent isn't the problem, it's the one after that will be likely more difficult as a result of finishing second...?

Assuming we even get that far.

Hodgson and Crouch whinging about Slovakia defending is hilarious. It's down to us to break them down, if we aren't capable of that we should be looking at our own play not theirs.

Other than Clyne and the first 20 mins or so, that was rubbish. I've been championing Wilshere but he looked absolute dog **** today - really struggled to get involved in the game (the position isn't perfect for him) and when he did he was really wasteful to.

I'm not concerned who England will play. By the time you get to the QF, the route will always be hard.

The problem is that England can't score and defensively look shaky without even facing an attacking team.

We cant break down slovakia the least adventurous opponents we have played so far, so whats the point in even playing the next match? We wont win no matter who its against.

So who would people play for the next game? Lets assume whoever it is plays like most of the matches weve had so far...

ps3ud0

Did they just say they shoud England should be worried about who they play the game after next? Bit presumptuous?

Flicking between the England and Wales game as I did, the contrast was pretty stark.

Wales commentary team, including Pulis: "Russia is a good team, we're going to have to bring our A game." Doesn't big up the team, talks about what an amazing achievement it is just to reach the finals, and how the team is fully united.

England commentary team: "Slovakia are so rubbish, England will surely score. They're on the ropes, England dominance plain to see. Who will England beat in the last 16? Will Rooney score in the final? Who wil emboss Engerland Champions 2016 on the trophy? Rooney looking world class. Smalling surely the best defensive player in Europe?"

You get the idea.

What DM said about commentators being paid to hype the England team is 100% spot on.

Top or second is much of a muchness to be honest.

Top - QF - Belgium/Portugal SF - Spain
2nd - QF - France SF - Germany/Italy

Probably aint gonna beat them anyway so doesn't really matter :p

I just don't think we went for it enough, controlling the game with no threat from the opposition, you need to strike whilst the iron is hot and play more offensive players. Rooney should have started really, Fair enough giving 2 players like Walker and Ali a rest as they've been all over the pitch. We could have won that if we'd had more attacking players on from the start.

Clyne was Man of the Match in my eyes - He made some awesome runs. A real frustrating game all in all - So many chances, and nothing hitting the back of the net...

Don't know why llalana was subbed, it should have been Henderson, he was crap all match. Slovakia defended well though, simply parked the bus.

Great result for Wales. Well done to them!
