Takes Wilshere and Henderson when both have fitness issues and drops Drinkwater. Just wtf seriously.

I'd have taken Townsend instead of Sterling as well.

would have taken Henderson (just about), and Drinkwater

Townsend is just meh (I dont like Sterling, but can see why he was selected)

The England squad will be coming home after 10 days (if not before) anyway so it doesnt make that much difference :):(

Quite, in the grand scheme of things the decision of the 9th midfielder is mostly irrelevant as we can't defend for toffee.

Sterling and Wilshere but not Drinkwater and Townsend? Don't agree with that I'm afraid, happy to be proven wrong though.

Given England can't defend, we need a defensive midfielder to protect the back 4. So Roy drops the best English defensive midfielder. Excellent going Roy. Going to need Eric Dier to play well.

Where's the width? Sterling has pace but can't cross, Lallana can cross but got no pace. Milner can't do either. You can almost guarantee Roy's entire gameplan is to put Vardy out wide so he can chase down speculative 60 yard Henderson punts on the off chance Vardy might get lucky. Who needs tactics eh?

I'm not usually one to defend Hodgson but Sterling & Wilshere over Drinkwater and Townsend is the right decision imo. Drinkwater and Townsend may well be in better form and it might be incredibly harsh on them ot be left out for players massively out of form or in Wilshere's case, barely kicked a ball for a year but even at their best, they're ultimately not good enough. If and it's a big if, Sterling and Wilshere find form they could be the difference between beating a Spain, France or Germany.

Re the talk of defensive midfielders. Hodgson used Wilshere there previously and even said something along the lines of Dier's still in Wilshere's shadow after the Germany game. If we go with a 2 man central midfield, I'd bet on it being Wilshere and Henderson.

Okay Drinkwater is nothing amazing but to not go over Wilshire heck could have taken Barkley instead Wilshire he has been a crock all year and looked worse during the brief friendly is abit of an insult to injury, sterling also been cack all year, Sturridge has been injured most of it and took only what 48hours to pick up a knock again with England so chance of him lasting the tournament i dont think is likely

Least Rashford has gone :/

I still don't see the point in taking Sturridge. Has he even played a full game this season? We'd have been better off taking Andy Carroll, because at least he offers something different.

I'm bemused as to why Stone and Bartley are going.

Both very poor for Everton this season they don't deserve to go.

Stones is going because we have a distinct lack of centre backs. Realistically who else do we have, Jagielka? Been out injured recently and if we're honest not very good. Jones? Barely played, is he still injured? Shawcross? Noway near good enough. That leaves the likes of Scott Dann who surprisingly has done quite well this season, but is he international quality? At least Stones has shown potential, albeit his form hasn't been best the last few months.

Barkley is an interesting one, even when he played the other night he was just swanning around the pitch and looked like he wasn't interested.

I see quite a few people on Facebook asking where Wes Morgan is, him being Jamaican might have something to do with his omission :p

Wilshere over Drinkwater is just crazy, Wilshere might have done well in qualifying but you can't go from having a whole season out to playing at international level...

I find it horrible that Antonio wasn't included in the squad, from what I've seen of him this season he's been great and would be just the type of player we need.

I'm happy Milner is there though, he has done a great job at Liverpool this season despite where they have finished in the league. Good at crosses yes, good at corners? Hell no.

Think he played like 31.5 minutes at most one game and score two goals all year, he's pretty awful.

I think england would've been better taking Carlton Cole, he offers something different too
