LOL Daniel Bedingfield - really should be our anthem when we play Iceland. We should beat them but I doubt we will find out anything useful in readiness to play France.

Sure I can.

Portugal failed to beat them.
Iceland beat Austria.
Hungary failed to beat them.

In qualifying, Iceland beat Holland twice. 2-0 at home, 1-0 away.
They beat Turkey 3-0.
Beat Czechs 2-1.

I'm sure Holland thought "oh it's only Iceland" too :)

The only thing I would say to counter that is that the first games are always harder because everyone is on an even footing, so Russia coming out with a single point is the best they could have hoped for. So sitting back and defending for their lives worked perfectly - 3rd game of the group that really wanst going to work, they had to go for a win in essence.

England are also playing a lot better in general now than they did against Russia, so its not a straight forward comparison.

(I still dont expect England to make it an easy game, if we are lucky we will nick it by a goal)
 
Is it bad that part of me wants to lose just so we don't get embarrassed by France?

..I really think we will get battered by them. Far better team, home advantage, it could be a goal fest. Just don't have confidence in the way we have been playing.
 
I think we'll lose on penalties tonight, after failing to score in normal time.

Roy will say it isn't fair that countries defend deep against us. People here will agree.

Either that or Iceland will win it by actually being able to score when they counter attack.

In the last 5 minutes Roy will bring Stirling on... everybody will agree Roy is comedy genius.
 
I don't mind him starting, we have no other winger, but that is Roy's fault.

Never know, he might not be **** for once.
 
Whether we live to go out another day or we go out today Roy needs to go regardless. England have been dire for this tournament. The easiest group and we get beat by Wales to top spot. The lack of ability to score, the shaky defending. His time is up. It has to be.

Anyway, I will be shocked if we don't go home tonight.
 
We really need to score early, the longer it goes on, the worse we'll get and we may well bottle it on penalties.

Iceland aren't great, but they're a solid, well organised team. If we score early it'll force them out and we can hopefully pick them off.

So far we've been a shambles against defensive teams.
 
I hope they mean Sterling is starting.....as the orange boy. His lightning flappy sprinting is invaluable for getting vitamin C to the the rest of the boys!

I'd rather he played just about anyone he could push rose left wing and bring Bertrand in at left back and we would look more dangerous than with Sterling in the team!
