yup. exactly. I couldn't believe we didn't go out 2nd half 4-3-3 and especially once Mancini made a couple of subs and had changed the system. Crackers that. But it's Southgate through and through.
No, I blame the manager. Their first touch of the ball was the pen. Madness! I have nothing against any of those three who didn't score. All shots on target bar Rashford and I can forgive hitting the post vs a Chris Waddle special, though he ought to have gone for it instead of playing mind games and a soft shot, but hey, that's life.
Kane did quite a lot, but in midfield. He wasn't getting in the box enough. When players got into the box from wide they promptly passed it back out. Keep it in the box and make them go for you. At least you might get a pen or a lucky rebound. But no, back it goes. Ditto times when we tried to break forward (rare in the 2nd half) we got away quickly but then no runners to pick out, so back it goes downfield while Italy regroup. Absolutely poor tbh. The better team definitely won IMO.
I haven't seen it, I was at the game. I assume it went to VAR? I can't find any highlights of it either. I was actually referring to the shirt pull on Sake.
The other one - at full speed, Grealish slide in from about 5 meters away - should Jorginho just stop going for the ball? To be honest with you, it would have made little difference at 113th minute & he missed his penalty

it was a cowards challenge, then he rolls around on the deck afterwards like he's injured. Funny, because everyone wants to bark on about Sterling when the Italians are at the top of the food chain when it comes to cheating.
Surprised to see so much **** thrown at Southgate. He was practically a deity a couple of games back but then fickle and football fans have always been two sides of the same coin.

Like I said though, well done for getting to the final. But I think the congratulations for that should remain short. End of the day we blew it, It was an opportunity to make history properly, not just accepting the plucky loser award. We lost because the game management was incredibly poor not because Italy are unplayable.
You are joking, how many times have we had this conversation on this very forum that this squad has the quality and depth never before seen in an England team, I have from England's 1st game under Southgate lamented his negative defence 1st tactics, this man played a defensive midfielder against San Marino ffs, I have been ridiculed be most posters saying we are doing great but I still don't see it, we had the easiest run to the final I've ever seen (Probably the worst German team I've ever witnessed) and still nearly cocked it up playing terrible negative football, the only time he changed from plan a was when his hand was forcedHe's already done better than any other England manager of recent years, with an arguably less talented starting 11. You want to go back to being quarter finalist specialists or something?
Not really, he has been called out in here since the start of the tournament, win or not for his poor tactics.

I missed the penalties as I had to go out - could tell we'd lost them as driving past a pub all I could see was a row of faces in disbelief and/or people in a position of disbelief staring at the TV.

Is this going to be one of those where Maguire jumps for a header and uses his arms for leverage and catches someone accidentally? Totally comparable if that's the case.

I know England fans didn’t cover themselves with glory, but it’s annoying me the way the whole internet seems to be blatantly lying about that video and claiming it’s England fans racially attacking Italian fans.
Not me, never been a fan of his negative approach, I have been lambasted for not getting behind him but I can't support that turd football
