Same story 10 years ago with France the reigning WC and European champs- every club signing french players in the hope that they would be the next Zidiane, Viera, Henry...
From what I read about Thiago's goal I thought it would be better. Basically passed it into the net.

He probably had a pass in mind but saw the keeper off his line and went for the shot. Thats really good vision and accuracy to do that with little to no time to prepare for the shot.
