***UEFA Women's EURO England 2022***

I know absolutely nothing about football. Couldn't even tell you 10 male players or name as many teams but I was keeping an eye on this game as so many people were talking about it. What a great result for England (almost said UK!! :o ) I guess for the fans here you must also be chuffed.

Nice to see a new bit of sporting news. :)

You cannot play the style of the women's game in the men's game as you would get demolished.

All these long balls, wide crosses etc is from football 30-40 years ago. It works in the women's game because of the height and lack of physicality.
Eh, surely men playing against men negates the physical part of your argument, I’ve watched mens football and they do cross from wide areas, how many assists did TAA and Robertson get last season, surely not all of them were from intricate defence splitting passes, there must’ve been more than 1 or 2 crosses in there.
What I meant was attacking and positive football rather than the defend at all costs negative guff Southgate serves up, I watch football to be entertained and the womens games has served up more of that this tournament than the mens team have since Southgate took over

The football the women play is a lot slower and more basic and you can see the moves quite obviously before they happen. They have much more room to work and more margin for error.

I think Adam’s point is that you cannot just play more attacking football and think you will get good results in a much more competitive environment. It simple doesn’t translate.

The negative football however dull it can be works as one simple mistake can cost you a goal. I lost count of the amount of times both teams lost possession in their final third that would have cost them in the men's game. It was a bit surreal for myself to watch as you end up putting your arms in the air and getting excited for no reason :p.

That doesn't make it any less enjoyable to watch however.

I watch a bit of the lower leagues now and again and even though the quality is not up there it can still be entertaining to watch.

Not taking away from their achievement at all because it’s excellent for the womens game this, but all this nonsense of “no more years of hurt” is a bit too much for me.

Great result, well done girls for winning a tournament.

It's all a bit cringe how all the media outlets are going about calling it a major trophy mind... First major trophy since 1966 is going a bit too far in my eyes. This trophy is no more important than the FA cup really.

It is indeed a major trophy, but it shouldn't be compared to 1966 because the women's team didn't win that trophy.

For better context, imagine that Scotland women had won that trophy last night, would you see it as comparable to 1966?

Its not Scotland....its England, its the first major trophy for England since 66. Yeah its not the mens game, yeah its a different level, yeah there are some lol goals. Still a bloody great achievement.

Exactly, you would find it a ridiculous statement and rightly so. You are also correct in that the only real comparison is that of nationality, and there have been far greater English sporting achievements than that show last night.

The English women are competing against 1 or 2 teams at their level, with the rest barely comparable to a high school team. I mean come on, they've put 10 past Latvia recently.

I get it but you still need to beat everyone put in front of you. If we are really SO good, we should have won other competitions and not 'waiting' until Euros 2022.
