Uh oh, here come's the biannual whingathon!

Some of their stuff does look quite practical tbf, not cheap though!
They started out doing uniforms exclusively for direct military procurement, but expanded to private purchase when they found that the GSG-9 guys were taking their 'work' kit home and going fishing or camping in it!!
Nowadays they kinda stradle both markets. What sets them apart, and what got me trying their kit out, is how open, forthcoming and honest they are about all their technical designs. Nothing is hidden behind 'wonder-fabric' marketing as they'll explain exactly what G-Loft is, why they chose that over others, why zips over velcro, how it works and why it makes their kit so good, who their intended markets are, and unlike the other brands they also detail what the limitations are.

If you're into all the Tacticool 5.11 stuff, or even just the higher end cordura-type cargo pants and general technical fabric outdoorsy stuff like Carinthia, the UF-Pro range is a step above.
America's Crye Precision is often touted as the top tier, but they're about £100 more expensive on everything, and not always the best when it comes to the smaller details. UF-Pro are their main competition and usually favoured by Europeans.
Carinthia are a very close second, but lean more toward civvy bushcrafting and outdoorsy stuff. They fall down a little on the technical side.
Triple Aught Design are insanely expensive versions of mainstream kit that is and does absolutely nothing special. Avoid, unless you're doing it purely for fashion and have lots of cash to burn.

Yup. Lots of money required for their kit, and the products tend to be like TAD in that they're more for looks than performance. Might be alright in some situations, but you'd be scared to go down to the woods today, for fear of catching it on a leaf and ripping it!
Also, their customer service has a pretty bad rep when it comes to dealing with problems and their refund/returns are dubious.
I'd have to see a lot more on the technical side before I had enough faith in their products to drop that much money!!

like to add another winge:

I spent lots of money insulating my house so it stays warm in the winter (about two years ago)

but now that I done that in the summer my house is like a nuclear furnace

winger over :D

Are they a goretex disciple - the original and still the best.
Most of these companies use Gore-tex in certain products. In others, it would be quite unsuitable, though.
The key is always picking the right fabrics for the right environments and uses, which is where some of the cheaper companies like Helikon-tex and Pentagon usually aren't too concerned.

As much as I'm looking forward to lighter evenings and the hope of getting out for longer rides of 20+ miles to the South Downs hills, something I struggle with before the clocks go forward once winter subsides because I hate cycling to/from surburbia around rush hours, I tend to cope far worse with the change to BST and feel jetlagged for most of the following week. On the plus side, it will temporarily set sunrise back to ~0700 and not make natural light disturb me so early until I can be bothered to setup the summer blackout curtain!

get some sheep... that is what they are for after all.... the dog with get some exercise working, you get winter jumpers, kebab meat and your grass mown for you.

wins all round.

Yeh, but it's the schilence that gets you...

It's particularly annoying when scheduling things with Americans because their clock change and ours are two weeks apart, so for those 2 weeks the time zone offset is different.

My heating control does change automatically when clocks change. No idea how it knows the date. Knows the day of week.

One time I looked at my car clock and it was on the wrong time and it was only a few days before the clocks changed! Left it

glad to think that now its summer using the dreaded money burning heating will be less of an issue.

I think im the only person who never bothered to change my car clock last year when the clocks went back, so its been one hour slow. finally now the clocks go forward it will be right again. convenient :D

Our clocks change next weekend so I will still be in your future, just one hour less than I was before.

e: or is it one hour more than I was before? How does time even work? Asking for a friend.
