UK Gladiators - 2024 reboot

As I mentioned the Australian Gladiators earlier I thought I'd add a photo of them. Terrible costumes with glitter facepaint and somehow trying to make them styled like Greek gods. The show is cheesy but in a bad way. Shot in a studio with no actual audience as far as I could tell. Just really bad.

@steve5424 - the Oz costumes looks like a nod to the 2008/9 revival. Agreed with you that the show needs an audience for the cheering and other reactions. It adds an atmosphere to the programme even if the crowd reactions are scripted in any way. The Glads without an audience is like watching a sitcom without a laugher track.

Wrong hosts for this. For one it should have been male and female. That said Bradley doesn't suit the role and his son shouldn't be anywhere near a camera. Guess he stipulated that he wanted his son presenting with him and didn't get the job on his own merit.

Seems a bit rubbish over all though

I don't like the commentator either, just no enthusiasm.

I only watched literally 5 minutes of it at the end.

I like Bradley Walsh but he shouldn't be on that program.

Just as good as the 90s which has pleasantly surprised me, it’s bubblegum TV and my grandson loves it. Bradley helping his son in life and giving him a break on TV that’s what good Dads should do, no?

Enjoyed episode 2, loved Legend blaming the light. His style is a lot more entertaining than Viper :D

Did think the Powerball was far too heavily stacked against the contestants. From memory the first series was 3v2 then they changed it to 2v2 quite quickly. In contrast I think they need to do something to make Gauntlet tougher, think every contestant has beaten it really easily so far. Loved The Wall, was always my favourite event.

Loved the little scene in the gladiators dressing room with them chatting, that was cool content that I don't think we ever got before.

I think 3 Gladstone on powerfully is too much especially as the play area seems a lot smaller than it us3d to.

No the dressing room camera is a new thing. I also noted its on the new Australian series.

Maybe just me but the Wall which I always felt was one of the better events seemed a bit lacking - the wall is just smaller and less difficult to climb (from what I remember the original wall had kind of a nasty overhang bit about halfway up)... It just seemed like the contenders basically scaled it before the Gladiators started each time

Otherwise a fine episode. Did you guys realise the blue female contestant can do the worm? She doesn't like to overdo it though

Yes the old wall had over hangs and was a bit taller. Now it's just a flat wall. On the Australian one it's ten metres tall but still flat.

Just watched the first episode with the kids. They loved it, especially the 10 year old.

It does seem a little cheaper, and smaller, than the original run, and the gladiators need some practice in some events, but overall I was pretty well entertained.

I fancied Phoenix but she was relatively unknown as she was only in the 1992 season.
She was my pick, at 10 years old :D

Jet was stunning in the original...

This new one doesn't have any character. The gladiators don't seem to be that good at the events. That female gladiator "Dynamite" is a bit pants though at events, she gets taken down by the contenders lol

Saturday tea time was just fantastic though back then, you had Baywatch on before hand :p
