UK Government set to ban disposable vapes

Dont agree with a ban as a user of disposables myself. I would much rather they were treated more like cigarettes, bog standard packaging, not allowed to be displayed/advertised, and actually force the companies to recycle them/make them more recyclable.

I've tried numerous refillable vapes and nothing comes close to the taste/flavour/hit from disposables.

I got an OXVA Xlim Pro kit not too long ago that I use every now and again, and using Salt Nic liquid you get a similar if not better taste, flavour and hit.

The reason I used to use disposables is the refilling and leaking of liquid. Used to to my head in ending up with a pocket full of liquid, or the liquid leaking through the coils and ending up with a mouth full of liquid!

Everyone forgot they said they were going to do this so they've re-announced it.
must be an election coming up or something.

I've not seen them advertised for kids but then I don't watch kids stuff. I'm more annoyed by the massive volume of lipo batteries these use.

I think the advertising to kids is more the bright and colourful packaging and little cartoon fruits on the flavour things.

I don’t vape so i’m clueless but the colourful myriad of them always catches my eye at the shop.

THIS!

Have spent a lot of time in Germany and there really is no excuse for us not having it.

People will still throw them away in the streets sadly but then you get people collecting them = free clean up!

Yep. It's pros all round.

Imagine if people were paid to pick up litter?
Any sort of litter.
You'd have people doing it all the time. I bet it would be transformational

I don't really get why cigarettes got hit with being behind lockers, plain packaging etc and then vapes could just do whatever the **** it wanted.

I understand it's less harmful, but the addiction on young kids must be extremely harmful. There's probably more kids vaping than there used to be smoking when it was fashionable.

Good, should never have been allowed in the first place. Now bring deposit on plastic bottles. I've spent 3 weeks in Slovakia in august and it was such a simple process to return the empty bottles.

I'm sure Industry over here says it will cost them, so the government doesn't bother, go figure.

Ex-smoker here.

Would'nt be able to have done it without vapes. Once I switched from smoking to vaping the difference was night and day in terms of how much better I felt.

Still, the amount of kids I see vaping, who presumably have never smoked is worrying.

Dodgy sellers in trashy shops in trashy streets selling illegal products by today's standards yet alone tomorrow's. And high street shops with long reputations like WH Smiths now selling disposable vapes. The sooner this gets banned the better. I understand that only NZ have completed the legislation for a full ban but the UK needs to join the small group with this in progress.

I don't vape but pick up loads when I womble.

Some of the flavours we find - no adult wanting to quit smoking are going to vape them. Unicorn Shake, Strawberry Bubblegum, Rainbow Fizz.

Then seen kids on the way to school vaping from disposables which flash a different colour at every puff.

Plus i have seen vapes called Tngo and Skitle which use the same font as Tango and Skittles. Surprised that Britvic and Mars haven't done a lawsuit against the manufacturers https://i0.wp.com/vapekorner.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Strawberry-Kiwi-1.gif?fit=400,400&ssl=1 https://i2-prod.manchestereveningne...cle24491849.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/2_Vapes.jpg

Good. They are horrendously wasteful. Let be fair though, the government should be waaay tougher on all non-recyclables. The amount of stuff that ends up in landfill simply because its cheaper to use single use or they simply want fancy packaging is awful.

In Europe you pay a deposit for every plastic / glass bottle you purchase. If you throw it away, you lose the deposit. So most people return their stuff to the stores and get the money refunded off their shopping. Those that do get thrown away are usually picked up by homeless folks, resulting in much cleaner streets.

Quite why our useless gov haven't implemented this here is a mystery, must have shares in waste disposal or something.

I vape, but support a ban on disposables.

Millions of batteries are landfill a month because of them. Children are using them- my daughters are in primary and know quite a few kids using them.

Fully agree with points above about plastic bottle waste above, too.

I would only sell the disposable vapes in shops that sell tobacco products and shops dedicated to vaping. Not sweet shops. Not Poundland. With dedicated vaping shops, my friend was in one and 3 kids tried to come in and one of the workers said "you need to be 18" to them and they left.

Plus get rid of the colourful packaging. Some vapes I have seen are black with different coloured writing on them to match the flavour. That would be acceptable. Another acceptable way - again seen the vapes whilst wombling - a simple symbol(s) of flavours.

Well duh lol. I can't believe it's taking the government so long to catch up with the obvious waste and obvious youth issues....

And I thought people wanted to save the planet but are indoctrinated into believing these are better. If society is anything to go by there'll be no sustainable planet capable of supporting current life in a couple of hundred years anyway.

Total Recall was ambitious at saying that was life on Mars when in reality it'll be life on Earth...
