UKIP move up to third in polls....

Tefal, how many times - that is not at all what i am proposing. Why do you think i'm saying 'just stop teaching them and take kids to the computer lab'. I'm not.

i'm not saying you are i'm saying even with teachers stick a kid o na pc and he will dick around and not do the work.

How do you propose teaching them with the internet and not letting them on a computer?

But you dodged the question do you just do the work or do you play games and watch videos?

I like UKIP, I know Nigel is a former banker, not CEO but still, standing up in the EU parliament while other MPs continue the agenda is inspiring. I have been trying to find a connection between UKIP and the Rothschilds/Vatican/Knights of Malta to try and get an idea of whom they serve and if they are indeed controlled opposition. Nigel wants to protect the City of London Corporation tax haven, whether he does that for the benefit of the business it brings to the UK(if any really at all) or he serves them is the question.

I don't like their stance on Israel, why they think British tax payers should continue handing over our taxes disguised as 'aid' to the Israelis isn't really conservative.

You said that the internet could basically replace formal schooling, allowing kids to choose their own path through education with only minimal input from school.

We have explained why that is a bad idea.

The internet can be a useful tool in formal schooling, it cannot replace or take precedence over it.

Basically kids need to be focused, suppervised, structured and guided in ther education....not given free reign to learn whatever they want...they simply will not learn that much of any real long term value.

Hell cas it's not just kids, we get paid to study, in class rooms or workshops we do work we learn when we're in the lessons on the computer well that's 3 hours a week wasted.

I think I've spent the last few sessions on the computer looking up how to build a jet engine from a turbo charger.

:D

You are quite right.....I'm supposed to be working on a paper for work, I have to get up at 5am and I'm ponsing about on here.

Jet engines from turbo chargers.....hmmmmmm

Cas, why do you always edit your posts after i've read them? It's really annoying :p

Yes, that's your opinion. What's your reasoning? What evidence?

Being a Parent, having taught several classes of kids, being a kid myself, common sense.......

Need I go on.

Yes, you do. None of those are reasons why a system similar to that which i propose couldn't work. They're reasons why the current system is ill-equipped to deal with modern needs and technology.

Fixed that for you! :0

Seriously though the three of you are arguing but I don't think you're terribly far apart, I think you broadly agree.

Why is it fixed?.....

Whether he waits to reply or post the outcome is the same....:p

Permabanned thinks that school should take a back seat to the internet and let kids do their own thing and learn what they want and have limiterd supervision...

I think that is naive and that the internet is simply another tool to be used in a structured, supervised, focused and intructed formal environment...i.e School.

Yep up at 6:30 for me still dicking around on the pc and not actually doing any work.

How do you propose these classes work perma?

you havn;t actually said anything of substance other than "use the inernet".

yet from that we've seen and you should have too (which is why i'm guessing you're refusing to answer weather you mess about on the computers instead of doing work) when you give students the internet they just mess about.

Jet engines from turbo chargers.....hmmmmmm

aye bit like the old school centrifugal jet engines except instead of many combustion chambers arranged in that gorgeous radial layout around the shaft you end up with a brutal looking S shaped monstrosity :p

You havent proposed a system other than to say..."let the kids do their own thing on the internet..."

I don't know if ipads have flash yet (:p), but i posted a video on the last page. I haven't attempted to flesh out the argument more than i have because better people than i have done it better than i ever could.

Well, may you should, because I don't watch videos of others arguing for you...I like to debate with the person I am debating with...if I want to debate with whoever is in the video I will call them and debate with them.

But so far, based on what you have said, all it amounts to is allowing kids free reign over their education and that the internet can effectively replace formal schooling...which would be great if they could be trusted to learn all the 'boring' stuff they actually need as well as learning how to make all the girls naked in skyrim......

Unfortunately, we all know that is not going to happen, not in this universe anyway.

I meant you should wait before posting :)

I don't think he does mean it as extreme as that, nor do I think you mean it should be exam conditions. I think what you want is not too far from each other.
