I have decided to give up my job as infectious disease expert and after much re-training I am focusing my attentions on modern day wafare with a dash of European politics post soviet area. I am looking forward to sharing my new found knowledge with you all on the subject.

Now lets put them all in a field and "bomb the ********"

Well that just leave Poland to do the dirty work, France will capitulate at the first sign of doing work, the Italians will just wave arms in a very very aggressive manor and the Germans will sit on the fence until the very last second and declare for the most obvious winner.

Agreed, watch what Putin's propaganda machine will do with this, they will use it as evidence the west is controlled by Nazis out to genocide all Russians, when they translate it from English to Russian they will simply remove the soldiers, they might even throw in some clips from CNN when they were claiming the US was full of Nazis. In a few days, they will have Russians patrolling the streets looking for Nazis. Poor Ivan will get clobbered walking home from his friends drunk on vodka.
What a crazy world we live in :D

Assist doesn't mean defend here, it could simply mean to aid, not necessarily militarily.
