Sounds kind of crazy that the uk doesn't have any anti ship missiles systems that can be fired from land when the UK is surrounded by water

Eh? We do though. At least short-range ones.

But do you not see that systems that can be launched from ships or aircraft or drones are far more versatile and useful?

There must be a viable option as they have already sunk a couple of ships so why there is a debate about what they can send to do this is puzzling,

Not as far fetched as you might think, during the second world war the USA were developing a guided missile piloted/guided by pigeons, quite topically intended for anti ship purposes. Don't even think about the plans that they had for bats.

The soviets also used giant squids to attack submarines and.... nevermind thats red alert.

You mean like this, which we have:
We have both, neither of which are suitable for anti ship duties. The MLRS is our precision deep fires capability, great for static land based strikes into divisional deep battle space, not so much dynamic water based targets, could strike a large static ship but unlikely to have a huge impact, unless very lucky with hitting ships magazine or some other volitile target. The Stormer HVM is our mobile SHORAD capability, with the Starstreak, limited rannge and only suitable for air targets.

We have Ship and Air (Heli and fixed-wing) launched capability to deal with water based threats, also lets not forget our subs.

We have some of the best nuclear attack submarines in the world, what are people talking about ground based anti ship missiles for? Any ship within 100 miles of the UK that presented a threat would be sunk by Spearfish
