Christ there’s lots of stuff I’m wrong on… but the re armament programme before 1940 was generally thought of as a good thing to win the subsequent war.

We lost vast amounts of equipment to germany after losing france and were in no position to go back at all. If we weren't on an island we'd have been run over too.

Appeasement wasn't worth spit in the grand scheme of how the war actually ended up being won.

Exactly, but if you use that logic in other situations re: males and vulnerable women you'd risk being called a bigot these days, but that's perhaps for another GD thread.

I'm sure there are more than enough families etc.. offering to take in Ukrainian refugees, the issue doesn't seem to be the UN ruling out single men for some but rather the inability of the bureaucrats in the UK to process the paperwork efficiently enough.

TBH, it’s absolutely asking for trouble, but the UN should be saying that about the rest of Europe also, as there are reports of women that have fled being raped and forced into prostitution

The Russian military has threatened to strike Ukraine's command centres in the capital, Kyiv, if there are continued attacks on its territory.

"We are seeing Ukrainian troops' attempts to carry out sabotage and strike Russian territory," the Russian defence ministry claimed in its regular evening briefing.

"If such cases continue, the Russian armed forces will strike decision-making centres, including in Kyiv," it added.

Not a specific reference to the reports of damage to railways in Belgrod earlier today but does give credence to it.
 
Seems like Ukraine running offensive ops tonight aimed at pre-emptive action against the expected assault in the east in an attempt to put the Russians on the back foot.
