Since it's described as "not conforming to NATO standards" could it be as simple as ammo that fits in Soviet spec weapons that doesn't fit in NATO weapons.

Yeah, it will be 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, 12.7x108 and 5.45x39. None of which are NATO standard but fit the small-arms that Ukraine fields such as the AKM, AK74, SVD63 and DShK.

I am curious what the Ukrainian plan is for dealing with the two bridges (Kherson and Nova Kakhovka) which can't really be traversed without risking getting trapped on the other side, but it would also work against Russian forces to lose those bridges as it would effectively end their ability to retake that city and makes the plan to capture Odessa/connect with Transnistria practically impossible to achieve

Does allow both forces to focus on the Donbas however which probably isn't in Ukraine's interest but I suppose we'll see soon enough what their counteroffensive is.

They blew up a command post near there recently killing two generals along with who knows how many senior staff. Hopefully Russians won't be thinking too much other than to get out of dodge if they're pushed out. If Ukraine can push them south/east the Russians may need to go quite far as the land is pancake flat so with no towns for cover they'll be picked off if they try to siege Kherson from the south. Hope so anyway, otherwise Kherson could get a lot of artillery thrown on it.

Who knows, with the new toys there could be a rout of retreating forces and they leave all the heavy stuff behind collapsing the whole southern offensive paving the way to Melitopol and then Mariupol. IF they can push them out of Kherson

Having said that, the helicopter attack in Belgorod was a Russian false flag operation, so this could be Russia trying to whip up the nation ready for declaring all out war.
Not a chance, they will not false flag their only real source of income. Right now it's the oil that is keeping them afloat.

They would rather kill a thousand of their citizens for a false flag operation, they are pretty ruthless.

I wonder what that non standard ammunition the US are considering selling to Ukraine is.

I would assume non standard would be something speciality, such as depleted uranium, outside that its hard to think what would be classified as non standard.... do they do 155mm tactical nuke rounds?
I am assuming it means ammo that fits the ukrainian weapons, it could be ammo specially produced for arty that the west don't have.

There is no way it's nuclear that would be insane, it's not going to be thermobaric either because they are also banned.

The West can't be seen to getting in the gutter with Russia.

Interesting, I very much doubt Ukraine would attack Moldova, even a Russian separatist region of it, so perhaps Russia is trying to drum up cause to invade Moldova too now? (because Ukraine is going so well lol :S).
